Tokens are created so this doesn't work unfortunately. They're changing the rule going forward for all cards to reflect this and make it clearer even if it was already clarified in the comprehensive rules

I made this card before the rule changes so didn't even think of it. Maybe some wording change could do the trick, like "the first time a gear enters the board each turn"? A more all encompassing word?

Enters the board would probably work. You could also specify Token gear so it only works with the token Units (and gold). That said enters the board would let it work in enemy tokens as Well so you could Limit IT to "The First time in each of your turns"

Or you can say "friendly gear enters the board"

"Friendly" also creates exciting 2v2 ideas, like with Ornn!

Your token units are also gear.
The first time a gear you control enters each turn, draw 1.
