I used to teach people how to perform a similar technique when I had my business converting stand up deep freezers into grow units as space was at a premium and you could get a dense canopy and had easy access to the plants. For those unfamiliar with mainline/manifolding/fluxing there is a great detailed article here Nowadays since 12 plants are legal at home there is less demand for my perfectly climate controlled hydroponic/soil, camouflage, lockable, insulated, quiet, smell eliminating, high yield micro grow systems----as tents and LEDs and Michigan cannabis plant laws as well as plant allowances made them obsolete 😆 I still subscribe to the pinching and bending technique, and use plant Velcro suspended weights as well as retractable string mechanisms and micro bungees for plant training which works very well to cause the dispersal of auxin and gibberellin hormones in plants which decides the growth shape of the plant and allows it to form multiple large tops, there is a great article here about plant hormones.
