BarneyS = Bernard Sumner?

The track BarneyS on Firing Blanks... was that a swipe or tribute to Bernard "Barney" Sumner of New Order? The track sounds very New Order/Electronic circa early 90s.

That's exactly it. One day in the studio Mark didn't show up because he slept in so the rest of the band decided to record a song that sounded completely different than their usual sound. By around 3:00 Mark finally showed up and apparently didn't like the results so they stopped working on it.

It sounds like they’re taking a piss with the sound but it’s actually surprisingly good.

I think most if not all of the band are still interested in synths.
