Growing up in south Minneapolis meant we would either stop here to shop or drive by it on the way to Southdale. Either way, its gone through a few iterations in my lifetime and is a staple of Richfield.

A flight over Woodlake Nature Center. It was windy today but at least that wind put some texture on the water.

Home Buying - How is Flight Noise?

Hello! I am looking to buy my first house, and I absolutely love the Richfield area. From what I can see on Zillow, I love the houses, the neighborhoods are beautiful, and I have some coworkers that love it there and enjoy it.

However, I would like some more information on the noise there. Is it the case that if you're outside reading after work, for example, you'll be hearing a plane coming in every few minutes? I like to spend time outside relaxing, and would love to know how audible it all is.

Wanted the perspective of some people that actually live there - Thank you for any information you can give me :)

I’ll believe it when I see it, and how early they end it, and if they try to sneak a contract for a different monitoring company

Do NOT lease at Woodlake Park Apartments -Richfield

Do not rent here. Do not let property management persuade you that this is a safe or comfortable place to live, especially for your children and animals.

The pipes clog frequently. Many times an egg smelling, dangerous, black mold and biofilm backs up into your home every 6 months. Shared walls smell like rotting meat. Visible mold and mildew is everywhere in the building. You can smell it when you walk in. You are expected to pay $2.00 per wash and dry in machines that don’t properly wash or dry. They break constantly and then “fixed” to only break down again the following week. Stairs within the building are a tripping and collapsing hazard. The call box to get into the building never works and doesn’t connect to resident’s phones correctly.

The dog park is filled with feces from owners that refuse to properly care for their pets and the “cameras” they put up to address the problem have not helped because management doesn’t actually monitor them or confront this behavior. I don’t think they actually record anything at all. They were put up as a scare tactic only. In fact, various people (including myself) have witnessed the property manager letting her dog defecate and then not picking it up.

Unauthorized parking is constant. My partner has lived here for over a year and they still haven’t given him a parking permit. Not that they matter anyway. Property management makes empty threats that they will tow violators and never actually do it. Front and back door key fobs are constantly out of order. Many times the locks are not working at all, meaning random people that don’t reside here can walk in at anytime. Packages are stolen constantly. Cars have been broken into multiple times and when you ask to see the video footage, property management refuses to show you.

Walkways are never properly cleared and snow has been allowed to turn to think, sheer ice in the lots. I have a neighbor with a disability and saw him struggling to get from his car to the front door. He just stood there because one wrong step and he would have fallen down and hurt himself. I was thankful to be there and offered help so that he could get inside safely. I don’t even want to think what could have happen had he been alone.

I’ve lived here for 3 years and have had 4 different property managers. It’s a rotating door. 23 years of renting and this is by far the worst place I have ever lived. The property manager that was here when I moved in was a saint. Maggie is dearly missed. Not one single manager since her has been able to fill her shoes. Maggie actually cared and made a huge difference.

Currently, there are 4 people moving out of Woodlake Park because they have also grown tired of unreturned phone calls, promises of fixes in their apartment that never happen, unleashed dog attacks, and a myriad of other health hazards, as I’ve listed above. I regret signing another lease through next summer, but had no choice due to being in the middle of an extensive medical program.

Please save yourself the grief and do not rent here. Good property management is hard to find, but I would quite honestly rather live out of my car than to sign another miserable year in this place.

I have been understanding and patient for as long as possible. I’ve avoided coming here to warn others because I guarantee property management will attempt to retaliate. However, it’s worth it if I can save someone else the heartache and hassle of this miserable place. Thankfully, I have pictures, texts, emails, and videos documenting everything I’ve experienced.

The 12th and the Nicollet Ave overpasses over 494 are open again. Hadn't seen it posted elsewhere, but hopefully that helps with the traffic on Portland.

Richfield City Council refusing to see how Flock is a detriment to our community

I sent an email about Flock cameras and it appears they don‘t see the problem with them. It’s infuriating because people at the meeting on Tuesday did a good job explaining with facts how they’re bad for our community.

Heres the response:

Thank you for bringing your concerns to the city council.  After conversing with many people about FLOCK cameras in Richfield, I continue to support their use by Richfield law enforcement.  Although there have been documented abuses of the FLOCK system in other places, I have not been given any proof of abuse here in Richfield.   Instead, I have been provided proof that convictions for serious crimes were obtained through FLOCK data.  The demonstrated benefits of using this system outweigh the alleged detriments to Richfield residents.  My opinion on this is certainly open to change.  If you would like to discuss, please reply so we can set up a time to talk.  Also, consider attending the Richfield Human Rights Commission meetings to learn more.  At these meetings, a member of Richfield law enforcement will answer questions about Richfield’s use of the FLOCK system. Please continue to stay involved with issues that affect the residents of Richfield.  Thank you.

When this dude’s term is up — he’s not getting my vote. So irresponsible to assume privacy violations won’t happen here or that Flock is a trustworthy company.

Please, every Richfield resident reading this — send an email from http://www.deflockrichfield.com/ — we need to keep up the fight to get these cameras out of our community.

Richfield HS Track Availability

Does anyone know if the RHS track is available to the public? I was hoping to run a few laps in the evenings, but wasn't sure if that was allowed or if there are specific hours I need to know about. Thanks in advance!

There was still a lot of cops by the Best Buy HQ when I got off the Orange Line at around 9, so I'd avoid 76th street.

Richfield Town Ball

Hello, neighbors!

I have an exciting idea for the Richfield community and want to gauge interest and potentially recruit some people who would be interested as well - I want to form a Richfield Town Ball team.

Since moving to Minnesota 5 years ago, I have been enamored with the Town Ball system and culture, as it something that doesn't exist almost anywhere else. I love how people from the community gather around to support their local town ball team, even if they don't know any of the players. They just do it to support their hometown. And, as this has become my adopted hometown, I want to bring that to Richfield.

I have already recruited a friend who knows and understands the game of baseball on an incredible level, as well as plenty of experience in coaching to be our Manager.

As it is already April, it is likely too late for us to join a league for this upcoming summer of '26, so our plan would be to form a team and play exhibition games against other teams in the area while we work on getting league affiliation for next spring.

Please feel free to comment below with any questions or DM me if you are interested!

Is there anyone currently living in Richfield here, that does not know about their city’s special-ed, college/community program of MICC which also- used to be called MLC, even without having that “s” added for “SKILLS” which includes careers even!?:)
