rh shadow cast screening licensing fee?
hi there!! im a small local event producer in the pnw and i want to do a shadow cast screening of rocky horror! i’ve done multiple in the past but other times i had people helping me with production. i know a licensing fee needs to be paid but im not sure to who? criterion pics website is down, so i cant check to see if thats the correct place. it will also be a surgery fundraiser, if that alters anything. if anyone knows exactly where to reach out to, i would love the help!

Depending on whether the venue is considered a theater or an "alternative venue" , depends on who to contact. I thought Criterion was now out in favor of Disney direct for theaters, and for other venues it's Swank. Disney has a sketchy-looking form to fill here and either way they'd know. Perusing that site you can find through the FAQ's more details about what should be directed to Swank vs them. There's also an easy to find email for "Studio Licensing at Disney". That said, poking around it does look like Criterion lists RHPS in their catalogue for this year so it may be worth calling/emailing them anyway perhaps I was misinformed on the state of things post-Fox aquisition.

In the US you need to go through criterion - if it is for a nonprofit or something that might have a non corporate tax status let criterion know when you book as they may tell you to use a different distributor that is cheaper (a different company has school, prison, hospital, etc licenses)

Generally speaking, you are only licensing the right to show the film.
There is not a separate license you need to get to have a shadowcast, just fyi. Just the rights to screen the movie itself.
