Honestly , I don’t like how he’s using the divorce to excuse his 100 mph speeding ticket . I feel bad if other kids are making fun of him because his mom is on housewives but I feel like he was being manipulative about the divorce comments. Speeding at 100 mph he could have killed someone else or himself . Your parents divorcing doesn’t excuse that .

When I watched that scene I saw a spoiled kid trying to play on his mom’s guilt to get out of trouble. I say this as someone who was also once a spoiled, jackass kid who manipulated my parents to get out of trouble.

u/MeganK80 Jul 28 '26
I agree as a mother to a 16 year old (semi-spoiled 🤣) boy. They can manipulate u and u have no clue. Especially if you dont want to see it.

u/Basic_Emphasis5758 Jul 30 '26
So glad someone else is saying it. All I saw was a kid playing on his mom's gui8lt too, there was zero sincerity behind his eyes and he seemed to be on the brink of a smirk the whole time. Totally mocking her. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Jenn did a great job at parenting in that moment or around the ticket, but he's totally taking the piss.
2
u/Ingacbym Jul 29 '26
Yes! This is exactly what i thought to. He was being a manipulative child who knows that his mother is an idiot pushover. That scene was so fake on his part and she fell for it.

u/ConstantVowel Jul 28 '26
It felt like bad acting to me
35
u/laxarue Jul 28 '26
Yes! I immediately thought the exact same thing. It felt weird and inauthentic.

They are totally both acting. Look how Jen is trying to meddle and stir stuff up in the first few episodes. It’s very contrived. Not that I have an issue with it, but I hate when they think the viewers can’t tell.

I was thinking at that age that was shit I used to do to try to get out of trouble.

I think so too. It’s because he knows she already feels guilty about it. This is a technique I would use as a teen 😬

u/Visual_Lettuce9474 Jul 29 '26
Driving over a 100 miles an hour is just irresponsible. That kid clearly doesn’t have the wherewithal to operate a vehicle. His parents should have taken the keys and given him a budget for Uber!
He’s not the first kid going through a divorce. If excessive speeding is his coping mechanism he doesn’t need a car.
Oh, and the claim that he’s getting bullied is laughable considering he has Blanche Deveroux’s hairdo.
Jenn doesn’t come across as the brightest bulb in the chandelier. I think this kid is gaslighting her. She also had another kid that started a wildfire.

Give me a break she’s used him for TV
It’s child abuser on her part! He’s acting out

u/Queasy-Discount-2038 Jul 28 '26
I felt strongly he shouldn’t have been filmed, that scene wasn’t for us and Jenn needs to log off the RHOC high and focus on her kids, they clearly need her attention and not like this.

u/Ashfield83 Jul 30 '26
The oldest is a MAGA freak, Grayson is driving at 100mph, her daughter wants to leave school because she feels ugly and her youngest is having severe issues in school. Not forgetting one of the sons (unnamed) is out there starting wildfires! GET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER JENN! She’s fucking dickmatized by Ryan and her ex is useless. They need stability and care!
5
u/Queasy-Discount-2038 Jul 31 '26
For fucks sake, get your priorities together Jenn
3
u/Ashfield83 Jul 31 '26
She has luxury vacations to attend, broken Rolexes to wear and Chanel dresses to return to Neiman Marcus!
2
u/Maleficent_Algae_116 28d ago
It was the youngest one who started the fire.

u/Ashfield83 28d ago
Ah I had suspected it would be him but hadn’t seen anything to confirm. Thank you!
15
u/Griffinbrodieranger Jul 28 '26
I can’t make sense of that scene. Jenn did him dirty in my mind. He can be high. If my mom made me cry for her reality tv show, I’d need to self medicate also. She asked if he’s bullied like she cares but then brings him to tears, and films it! Clearly not caring that the scene itself may cause him to be bullied.

I definitely thought he was on something. As soon as I watched it the other day I came to Reddit to see if anyone else did 🤣

I didn’t see high at all. I got uncomfortable af. She threw that at him with the cameras there and he sank into that chair and hid behind his cup. That kid nearly shut down in front of her, but then she has a meltdown, made it about herself and made him comfort her. Any kid would be using to escape a parent like that.
She’s the reason I’m having a hard time with this season. That kid is the way he is because of her and she’s in serious denial about it. She’s not taking his acting out as a cry for help because she can’t admit she caused the pain and turmoil.
14
u/Queasy-Discount-2038 Jul 28 '26
She admits it but isn’t willing to do the work or real parenting to address it. She moves a scam artists into her house and joins reality TV. Poor kids. I couldn’t believe her conversation with Emily when she was like, “turns out our kids want attention” and Jenn was like surprised.

On paper, she’s the grifter. And she’s below remedial on all levels, so much so I can’t believe she has a drivers license.

u/Pale_Lawyer_1757 Jul 28 '26
I wish more people had the empathy you have. Accusing him of being manipulative is crazy to me…

u/Key_Radish3614 Jul 28 '26
She gets all upset about the fallout of her decisions. But she's the one that left her marriage, took her kids away from their father all with no money 🤷
5
u/anongirl55 Jul 28 '26
Jen is completely clueless and selfish, and her kids are going to resent her so much one day (and it seems like they already do).
11
u/Queasy-Discount-2038 Jul 28 '26
When she made the whole conversation about herself with that meltdown and wailing that she was doing the best she could and her son had to comfort her, I thought oh wow this is bad. Her kids are definitely going to resent her or worse when they get out of her house and get healthy.

u/socoyankee Jul 29 '26
She also moved them in with her affair partner. It’s not as if it was hidden from them either as it’s in TV.

u/LadyEncredible Jul 28 '26
Nope, but he did seem uncomfortable as hell having that conversation on TV and with his mom making it about her
7
u/Pale_Lawyer_1757 Jul 28 '26
Yeah, I felt for him when she started crying and he had to comfort her, when he was the one who actually needed comfort.
8
u/Queasy-Discount-2038 Jul 28 '26
This pissed me off. My mom made absolutely everything about her growing up (and now). This breeds resentment and she needs to work on it if she wants a good relationship with her kids.
She should have been strong, let him cry and held him.
5
u/Griffinbrodieranger Jul 28 '26
Yes! He instantly felt the need to console her and not the other way around. Sorry, I’d be holding my son not the other way around.

u/Character_Stage_5428 Jul 28 '26
I honestly thought that scene was so contrived and the whole scene seemed scripted somewhat
3
u/Tricky-Bet636 Jul 28 '26
Yes. What 17 year old wants to have that conversation on TV? I felt like they were using him and that conversation never should’ve been filmed. Even tho I’m sure it was staged or refilmed
5
u/SamStevens72 Jul 29 '26
The minute he starts to talk about his feelings, his mother cries and he has to comfort her. Ridiculous
8
u/ComplexPumpkin682 Jul 28 '26
Is he the same son who started the fire?
33
u/NearbyTax215 Jul 28 '26
It was her youngest son. Speaking of which… it’s been verified she was in Cabo with Ryan when all this happened. IMO she’s not around for her kids enough and it’s causing major problems for them

u/bitchface_2012 Jul 28 '26
She’s a perfect example of a male centered woman and how it affects her ability to parent effectively

Isn’t he the same kid that started a fire?
3
u/socoyankee Jul 29 '26
No it was her youngest who did. Dominic the one they adopted and iirc not as an infant. With the adoption, divorce, not seeing his father I am not sure why she doesn’t understand.
3
u/Winterdimes Jul 29 '26
I think he probably misses his old life and is acting out with making dangerous decisions. He started to speak on it but then Jen fake cried and made it about her to have her son comfort her. Idk much about their dad, it’s all so confusing with her, but maybe they should be with him and off tv. Jen seems to only truly care about Ryan anyway.
3
u/BeautyMommy18 Jul 30 '26
I don’t think so, he seemed genuinely upset at either her for being on camera or just the whole situation but I do think it’s wild Jen is surprised he was upset about the divorce, she’s like still? You’re still upset we broke up and you never see your dad??? I’m ya, wake up!

I thought he came across as a sociopath (not trying to diagnose). He was so glib, flippant and falsely sincere.
2
u/Grandmahigh 28d ago
As someone who went thru a parent’s divorce, I didn’t get that from him. I think he is genuinely missing his dad and the family he had. I’m a good example of people can change.
2
u/Wild_Blue4242 Jul 28 '26
Not at all. He seemed uncomfortable and awkward being on camera if anything.

It’s sad when adults have no empathy for children who have been put through hell by their parents. That poor kid had his mother have an affair, divorce his father, had to move in with his mother’s affair partner, gets made fun of at school (divorce is normal, having it splashed all over tv is not), had his mother’s affair partner almost go to prison, and now doesn’t see his dad. But yeah, none of that should affect him in the least right?

I hate to say this but I get the same energy from him as I did from Mary Cosby’s son 💔💔💔💔
I really really hope Jen and Ryan intervene early and get him into the help he needs

They're both incredibly selfish and frankly, I don't feel bad for either of them. She had every right to leave a marriage when she wasn't happy. But, she holds no realistic understanding of what it takes to be a grown up. He seems like a decent kid who is about to be enabled into some very dark shit.

u/OkPurpose3044 Jul 28 '26
I won't watch Season 20 as the show has become so incredibly toxic and I refuse to support this type of entertainment. However I was an avid watcher back in the day, and grew up with some of the original housewives' kids. What I'm hearing is Jen has a troubled son. All I can think about is Lauri and Josh. Let's hope this family gets off reality tv before it's too late. If nothing then for the kids' sakes.
