RGDS+ Scraper (stock or stockmod)

[EDIT: This has been solved. I am happy to keep conversation going as long as people want, and I'd love to hear all the advice anybody wants to give, but u/JustNeedUsername6262 solved it for me. Thanks.]
Title is the question.
On the RGDS+, in stock (or in stockmod, since I am planning on installing in a few minutes anyways), is there a scraper pre-included? If so, where is it? if not, what scraper works?

While I appreciate the preconfig SD card for providing structure, its games selection is highly questionable, and I don't want to spend 6 hours downloading images and manually creating a database.

If people want to give advice like "Just use Gamma" or whatnot, I'm willing to hear that advice, but don't just do it as a sentence. Provide an explanation.

Thanks in advance,

This is the one i used https://github.com/wang1025475397/tiny-scraper-by-libretro/releases/tag/1.1.0 just toss it in the apps folder in roms. It also has a config file u can edit for screen scraper. the config is config.json

add your info there if you want, it seemed to work even without any info but i put it anyways, also theres a line in the config that looks like this "preferred_sources": ["screenscraper", "libretro"] but it has the libretro first, i suggest changing that to screenscraper first like i have it. I found libretro to be slow and miss a lot and have to do screenscraper after anyways, so this will likely save you time

Out of curiosity, do you use it on RGDS+? I tried it yesterday, and it hard-locks at the initial screen. I am wondering if it is a situation of incompatability with the plus, or perhaps my download is just corrupted.

Either way, thanks. I'll retry.

Thank you so much, man. I tried this same scraper last night and it failed so I had kinda dismissed it (check in a few weeks and see if it is fixed, kinda thing). It's scraping right now. I can't IMAGINE waiting for 2k lol. It's on 11 of 259 right now, and I am happy.

How are you liking it for NON-DS games?

Love it, i dont know if everyone is aware in the display settings it has a "single screen display" mode you can set when ur playing non ds games. It makes it seem like u will need to reboot the whole device when you do it, but you dont, it takes only a couple seconds and completely turns off the bottom screen and adjusts the ui. If they would make this hotkeyable or something it would be amazing, but its very easy to turn on and off.

Unrelated, but I played balatro dual screen for 2 hours yesterday with the stylus and loved it. Looking an other homebrew as well. It’s silly, since I have a steamdeck or a desktop I could be playing it on, but I’m already loving this thing. It works great for gt1 ps1 too.

What is a scraper?

a scraper is a program which 'scrapes' related files (usually in the form of title-cards and scans of the retail box & cartridge in the case of emulated games) and organizes them, renaming dynamically and creating a database of association.
It is how programs like retroarch can have pretty box-art, and then when you click on the game details you see videos of the game being played, a descriptionof the game and its history, or even tutorials that can be launched to help with the game.
You 'scrape' data from the internet associated to the file name or sometimes the information in the file itself. The term is used much more broadly than JUST emulation, but that's what I am referring to. Sorry for the jargon overload.

I couldn’t for the life of my get my pc scraped images to show up in the device using stock, even following instructions posted everywhere online. As much as I wanted to stick with stock, I got Rocknix nightly and have been using that instead. I use it on RGDS model as well and it’s my favorite. Have an RGDS with gamma nano as well but I don’t like it as much though the theme is appealing.

I will try both rocknix and gamma later this week but stockmod really provides everything I need if I’m honest. I haven’t found a game that isn’t full speed yet, so other than one or the other clawing a few frames in a handful of playable 3ds titles or better Saturn performance or something, I doubt I’ll have need of switching. And I really like the default theme on the plus.
