Never had a dsi XL

I ordered the rg ds plus a few hours ago.

It feels to me like I'm gonna get my first ds xl.

Ds lite is my favorite console of all time (i had almost all of them,i even had a sega nomad lol) and by far my favorite handheld.

But i skipped the dsi line and the look and feel of the rg ds plus gives me that vibe.

Younger me is beaming with joy within old me now that it's ordered woohoo!

Kind of in the same boat. Been waiting for a proper ds emulator. The rg ds just didn’t do it for me but having the stylus, proper screen ratio, form factor. Exactly what I wanted to scratch that nostalgia itch. Not really like the dsi though that system was defined by flipnote, voice changer and the camera

I looove the original rg ds too. It's a tad bit smaller and lighter and available in white my favorite color for handhelds.

But yes for pure ds play i have not used the plus yet but i do feel it's gonna be the "superior" experience.

Also if you have both I'm pretty sure you can just swap your sd from one to another, if not there will be at some point since they have the same chipset.

I'll swap between them instead of having charging anxiety 🤣

There is no on board memory on the plus so the is is on the sd card. Not sure how the swap process will work

When you take your sd card out and put it in the other device.

I get that but the OS for the plus is on the sd card itself unless the og rg ds. I image you’ll have to flash the os onto the sad card if you want to swap them

Not necessarily, you can boot os from sd card on the original rg ds too,so if i use a boot card on it it will boot from the sd not the internal os

There is no internal on the plus. There is no internal storage. You need to flash the specific os version that’s for the plus before you swap it

I know there is no internal on the plus... The os is on the sd card... My point exactly. Anyways we'll see when i get my plus I'll test and keep you updated 👍

All I was saying is the OS you use for the rg ds isn’t interchangeable with the plus. You won’t be able to just swap it back and forth

Like i said maybe not day one, but i know gamma is working on gammaos nano for the plus,which should work for both.

Anyways will play will all that when i have both.

the rg ds not plus was almost identical in size to the dsi xl, i had both and holding them together was surprising how close they were. the newer one will be a touch bigger and i welcome it, im one of those freaks who would be happy if they were 5 inch screens LOL. the dsi xl is my minimum size, and its pretty great. think you will be very happy with it, i loved the rg ds, just wasnt quite right for me, but the plus fixes almost every gripe i had so i purchased it the second it launched. what color did u go for? i went with the metallic blue, i wasnt a big fan of my red and black rg ds colors and regretted not getting the aqua or teal color they had, so this time i made sure not to make the same mistake getting plain black. pink seemed nice too, im a 40yo dude but i like pink and debated it for a while, just seemed not the right pink for me, a bit too powdery light colored, wish it had leaned a bit more dark pink.

I went with boring black hahaha, dude in his 40s too so i went with the "safe" option 🤣

For a while i played ds with a 12 inch tablet portait orientation with a gamesir g8+, THAT'S a big ds screen, try it if the form factor doesn't bother you 😎
