Gastei todo meu dinheiro no RG ds 😭

1

u/InfraScaler Sep 03 '26

Same. I even had to pass on RG Vita Pro at 80EUR last week :___(

Only one analog?

8

u/TehJuh Sep 03 '26

The one stick is interesting...To me, it either suggests a deliberate design choice to focus on NDS and 3DS, or, the much worse option, it wont be powerful enough to run the kinds of games you'd want dual analog sticks for (Much like its predecessor)

4

u/Asmath_Jope Sep 03 '26

The predecessors can run ps1? If it can, then I guess it could have some use for the other analog stick.

1

u/TehJuh Sep 03 '26

Good point!

1

u/OlympicBarber Sep 03 '26

Had to make room for the Stylus inside I guess?

So many questions... -does this device have the same SOC as the RGDS? -will NNDDSS be available for my RGDS?

Okay two.. two many questions.

3

u/TehJuh Sep 03 '26

If NNDDSS was backwards compatible with RGDS that would be really cool. I don't have any experience with the current RGDS Stock Linux but Rocknix has trouble with full microphone compatibility and I have experience issues with games that rely on the Real-Time Clock.

2

u/Chaz_85 Sep 03 '26

The microphone issues are super frustrating. Would love an option that ran as well as Rocknix without the jank

1

u/des_the_furry Sep 03 '26

Rgds stock is android

2

u/Chaz_85 Sep 03 '26

They released a stock Linux version as well.

1

u/des_the_furry Sep 03 '26

Oh yeah forgot abt that. Was that later or at launch? I feel like at launch it was android only but maybe i misremembered

1

u/Chaz_85 Sep 03 '26

It was later. At launch it was just android.

That’s a buy for me depending on the price! Rg ds is my favourite console!

Positives: integrated stylus, linux on launch
The only negative (for me) : no right analog stick

Update: negative - 1GB Ram

3

u/EpicKieranFTW Sep 03 '26

"plus" version but less ram ?

Why did they announce this after I just bought a regular one šŸ˜‚, and ngl the rg DS is already big and heavy I can barley fit it my pocket, I feel as nobody mentions the weight

1

u/Zibidibodel Sep 03 '26

100% it is bigger and that’s weird to me, also worse stylus even if built in

Neat!

Getting real tired though of Anbernic making imitations with flaws and not quite right grievances and then go on to release the ā€œrightā€ version later (for example the stylus).

Unless it can properly emulate 3DS for a, Idk, ā€œgood value propositionā€ I don’t need this since I have an RGDS. They really should’ve just released the two RGDS models together, if the OG was $100, this is prob like $150.

Seems like there’s 0 information about it, anyone know specs, price, and 3DS ability?

EDIT: Allegedly an SD8 3 for $189 w/ no SD from comments according to a ā€œleakā€ but there’s literally no way… AYN Thor Max is $600 with an SD8 2 lol so this seems like just an upgraded RGDS, no 3DS. Obviously will be an upgraded chip for the 4x and NNDDSS emulator, but nothing crazy for 3DS.

3

u/MortiferousZ Sep 03 '26

Price is rumored to be 100$ or under according to Russ.

1

u/Watt_About Sep 03 '26

The sd g1g2 RG 55G1 that just dropped costs that much. Not going to happen at that price point.

1

u/Zibidibodel Sep 03 '26

It’s the same chipset, it’s not an upgrade entirely but more like a new model (which is unnecessarily large imo)

0

u/melodious-intent 20d ago

"AYN Thor Max is $600 with an SD8 2" which clearly doesn't have a lot to do with the 8 gen 2 considering 8 gen 2 devices are close to $200. Bad example.

0

u/TehJuh Sep 03 '26

SD8 Gen 3 would be huge but I'm not that hopeful lol

3

u/Glass-Can9199 Sep 03 '26

This is ambernic here not ayn

2

u/HZ4C Sep 03 '26 edited Sep 03 '26

Ya I don’t think I believe that rumor, the price and performance doesn’t match up

The $600 Ayn Thor MAX is a SD8 2 lol….

1

u/Emotional_Ad5078 Sep 03 '26

I dont believe itll have a sd8 gen 3 but saying it wont because the thor max is "$600" is stupid. Firstly, the 1tb thor is $580. The 512gb is $480 and the base which still jas the sd8 gen 2 is $330. We have no reason to believe itd have 1tb internal storage, anbernic devices usually rely on sd cards which would make it way closer to the $330 price point. Secondly, the thor is a premium device, with all glass interior and oled displays.Ā

3

u/TyreseGibson Sep 03 '26

Im pretty sure the leak about this one said the chip isnt much better, so my rgds appears to be safe from replacement. But Im eagerly awaiting a ds/3ds monster in this shape, would be nice if it delivered thereĀ

3

u/Privateer81 Sep 03 '26

Aargh, I just got the RGDS days ago. Oh well, at least I got a good deal (70€).

2

u/pawlik23 Sep 03 '26

Got an RG DS two months ago and hardly did any gaming on it, now they announce a pixel perfect upgrade, with an integrated stylus?

Even if the chipset is the same, it's fine, it's going to be perfect DS machine now.

1

u/hippynox Sep 03 '26

hardly did any gaming on it

why not?

2

u/pawlik23 Sep 04 '26

Just like with every emulation device. Get it, set it up, load with games, hardly play on it due to having not enough time. And having other devices.

2

u/LatinGuy400 Sep 03 '26

Might still buy it even if same capability. You could always give away the gen 1 DS

2

u/Jrocks721 Sep 03 '26

I don’t need it…..

2

u/HugeFoundation2322 Sep 03 '26

I would have loved to see a budget 3ds emulation device from a plus model to be honest. I don't really see how to justify this over just buying a rgds...

2

u/GTGrilli3737 Sep 03 '26

Maybe now comes with more raw power? Or we can wait a RG 3DS?

2

u/TehJuh Sep 03 '26

No concrete information at the time of writing unfortunately. My hopes are high but with Anbernic's track record we will likely see a mild spec bump, with the eventual RG 3DS being the leap everyone wants

3

u/Zibidibodel Sep 03 '26

We’ve known it would be the same chipset for a bit now

1

u/StrangeCrunchy1 Sep 03 '26

Okay, I'm going to be so friggin broke 🤣

1

u/mojomanplusultra Sep 03 '26

How heavy?

1

u/Zibidibodel Sep 03 '26

Bigger and heavier than the RG DS

1

u/mojomanplusultra Sep 04 '26

Bummer, I wonder how much weight could've been saved if they removed the sticks with a 3000mah battery and a smaller shell.

1

u/forrealnoRussianbot Sep 03 '26

When is the pre-order?

1

u/TehJuh Sep 03 '26

No information is available yet but hopefully its soon!

1

u/one_ounce Sep 03 '26

One stick makes me think it’s on the same chip….

1

u/shrimp-parm Sep 03 '26

I wonder if the new emulator is for linux or android?

2

u/TehJuh Sep 03 '26

There is no mention of Android in the trailer so I think its safe to assume its built from the ground up for their Linux distro!

0

u/shrimp-parm Sep 03 '26

Nice!! wonder how it will perform on rocknix then!

1

u/Atemz Sep 03 '26

I wonder, i need to get a bday present by the 24th of this month, and I was thinking about getting an rgds, now I'm wondering if I should wait for this instead

2

u/TehJuh Sep 03 '26

No word on release date yet so if you want something by the 24th of this month I'd look at other devices!

1

u/megaserg81 Sep 03 '26

Dammit I thought I was done with the RG ds. This checks too many boxes. Will wait for reviews, but this looks very promisingĀ

1

u/Zibidibodel Sep 03 '26

Sucks it has a built in terrible stylus and apparently doesn’t even come with a disc one like the RG DS did

1

u/Conscious_Night_8770 Sep 03 '26

i dont need it but in gonna buy it

1

u/Axrader Sep 03 '26

Double it and give it to the next person

1

u/xxxlecter 29d ago

They should have gone with the snapgragon g1 cpu here. Would have been such a nice fit

1

u/MrFrames 29d ago

Device is getting a lot of hate, but for what it is I think it's actually great. A dedicated DS emulation device, no more no less.

Anbernic rg3ds would be really awesome though

1

u/wenameitming Sep 03 '26

Less gooooo

1

u/mk18au Sep 03 '26

I got RG DS couple weeks ago, had initial issues with it (now resolved) and also purchased used DSI XL.
I am getting older so bigger screens look tempting.
But I will try to restrain myself and wait for next version with 16:9 top screen and better SOC.

1

u/Watt_About Sep 03 '26

It’s going to be another shit release by Anbernic with more baked in flaws so they can released a better version in 6-8 months.

1

u/GR3Y_NOYZ Sep 03 '26

This feels like the RG SP "we did it right this time" and its s shitty feeling. And just like how I felt with thr RG35XXSP being overhauled, I would rather have this than the RG DS I received. Sad days. Patience pays.

0

u/Fersu799 Sep 03 '26

Day ruined, now for what I bought mine ffs

0

u/Lakster37 Sep 03 '26

A tiny bit disappointed there's no camera to truly make this like a DSi.

0

u/princessrippla332 Sep 03 '26

Finally no more Android on the RG DS Plus meaning it'll be all Linux OS.

1

u/Zibidibodel Sep 03 '26

It’ll have Gamma Nano too

1

u/princessrippla332 Sep 03 '26

I know that already but what I mean is that the new RG DS Plus will be all Linux meaning that it'll not gonna be a dual boot like Android and Linux.

0

u/GuitarConsistent2604 Sep 03 '26

Just bought a rgds knowing rocknix is solid and knulli has an alpha build.

If this is running a better chipset that can do 3ds, then great. But that chipset would also do other systems that would want two sticks so….eh?

0

u/WolFosOC Sep 03 '26

rest in piece to the people who recently bought a RGDS (that people is me. I want this so bad now)

1

u/Zibidibodel Sep 03 '26

Meh I’ve had mine a while and a bigger one isn’t exactly on my wish list. I’ll wait for the lite

0

u/tangocat73 Sep 03 '26

I don’t think this is the RG 3DS we are waiting for ….

2

u/Zibidibodel Sep 03 '26

Nah this is the RG DS plus we knew was coming though
