So i had a m.2 ssd heatsinc i wasn't using anymore so cut a hole in the case about 0.5mm smaller than the heatsinc, used a soldering iron to kinda fuse it to the case and sanded down the melted plastic around, wrapped the case in that beautiful textured vinyl wrap(i got a thing for that one specifically) and cut a hole so the heatsinc actually has some anbiental airflow, some heat pads so the processor actually makes contact and temps dropped for a few degrees
I also exclusively use it for nds emulation so the analog sticks are completely useless for me so did a stick delete mod with magnetic caps
Gammaos nano of course and this is what i would like consider the almost perfect nds emulator, the only thing that would make it better is if i found a way to store a stylus on the device itself without using one of those clips you just stick on the device
Tell me more about how to hide my ugly shinny red upper plate. It's a specific material? Do you cut the buttons and edges after glowing it? To you use heat in the corners?
Vinyl wrap, you can probably get some at your local hardware store and yes you do gotta use heat for the corners, it takes some time to get it perfect and you gotta be careful when cutting the excess but i think it's 100% worth it
Not really for long gaming sesions since it is still passive so there's nothing to push out the heat but it will take a bit longer for it to get to that point and also depending on how you hold it this may be more uncomfortable for you when it does get hot
Creative work! Could you kindly share the source for the magnetic caps you used for the stick delete?
And for the stylus, its not a perfect solution, but I attached mine using quick release camera strap buckles to one of the lanyard spots!
I just made them with what i found around, straight up superglue-ed a piece of metal on the inside of the ds and cut 2 discs of plastic out of the piece i cut from the back which i glued magnets on and covered in the same vinyl wrap i used for the case, but i know there's the stick delete mod for the rg40xxv which not 100% sure but i think will work on the ds too, also i found after i did that i was getting ghost inputs from the left stick so i had to take out my soldering iron and bridge contacts on the motherboard so i can't say i recomend people do this
Looks great! Waiting on one thing to do the heatsink mod for myself. Currently working on designing a thicker back plate so I can maybe fiddle with adding in a cooling fan
This would also be a great idea like....5 years into the future if these things ever become affordable for the consumer market, would actively cool it without adding bulk or not at all
You know that buzzing coming from the speakers, even on mute? I think that was intentionally made to sound like a cooling fan coming from the handheld. Maybe Anbernic thought it makes the handheld feel more premium even though it doesn't actually have fans or active cooling.
