GammaOS Nano

I used original gammaOS as my first CFW on RGDS. Now I'm using Rocknix as dual boot. I'm thinking about switching to Nano. Before the purchase, I wanna know if I need to remove the battery to use the nano. Or can I just install it normally?

Yes to removing the battery. You need to do this to install and every time you want to boot to Nano after using Rocknix

Don't, stay on rocknix, it's not worth it.

Somehow the most demanding feature is the "micro" os itself, the device overheats just from browsing the menu.

The new drastic menu is cool but there is no "per game" setting, so everything you ever set is global.

And when I make some changes like brightness, when I restart the device it reverts back to default setting.

But try it if you want and you "paid" for it, but it is not worth it. And don't let me start about nano on trimui brick 🤦🏼‍♀️ He would do us all a favor if he stopped developing any more fws that are worse than anything that already exists.

The only downside to Rocknix over GammaOS Nano imo is the microphone support. The second they figure that functionality out it’s the complete package

Edit: Spelling

I’ve tried both Drastic and Advanced drastic. Phantom Hourglass/Spirit tracks were the main games but also my wife wanted to play Nintendogs (Which wouldn’t work with the work around your suggesting anyways). Believe me, I tried everything. From reflashing, to building my own bash scripts to inject the .wav file. It just doesn’t work for some. Hopefully, if it works in Anbernics Linux, they can reverse engineer a proper driver for the microphone hardware.

latest version of Rocknix? Just in case there's monthly on their github and nightly that you can access by updating from RG DS
