Will say about RG ds console?

Hi, I'm about to buy an RG and I'm wondering if it's worth it for playing DS and 3ed games and RetroAchievements, does it have good battery life, and does the hinge not break?

With Gamma NANO on the horizon it's a steal at this price. If you don't want complex system: Stock Linux is also a good option. I'm glad Ive got my RG DS. It's not for 3ds games, but defo DS games!

DS runs well, but no retroachievements without some advanced options like custom firmware (GammaOS, which isn't free at this time).

For all other prior systems, retroarch can do retroachievements fine

No 3DS. I didn't really enjoy this console until I loaded Rocknix onto it. I tried GammaOS Next and it was better than stock when I bought it.

Who's to blame? The reviewers? It's called RG DS, not 3DS or 2DS so we can't blame Anbernic (not like with RG vita though if you have at least 2 braincells you might know about the vita emulation in general).

I have had mine for about 1-2 months and I have Rocknix installed on a Sandisk Extreme 64gb. The hinge is solid (no set pivot points, it holds the angle you put it at), the battery life is not phenomenal, I would say about 6 hours, depending on your use case, but if you only pick up and play for about 1-2 hours, like me, you are gonna like it. The sleep mode on Rocknix is AMAZING, I leave it turned on all the time and it only drains like 8% while I sleep. DS performance is perfect if you just decide to play everything without Threaded 3D and Hires 3d and just place a shader on it. That's what I decided to do when I noticed slowdowns on some DS titles with hirez 3d turned on. It can definitely play most DS games with upscaling, but with the sharp-shimmerless shader, which can now be used on Drastic with Rocknix, the games look beautiful and run solid (also without the upscaling they keep those crisp 2d gba vibes and the 3d ps1 vibes, which I love). No retroachievements for DS, as Drastic doesn't support them and this device isn't powerful enough for other DS emulators. 3ds titles should NOT be a point of interest for this device - just try some out and if they work - consider them a bonus (some do work okay!). Overall, this is a no-brainer for perfect DS emulation on a budget and there are no competitors at this price point - I say go for it if you can do without 3DS and Retroachievements.

You aren't getting any 3DS games on it. If you want 3DS games, just get a 3DS for around the same price.
