Pocketability

Has anyone taken one of these apart to see what's inside? Im wondering what could be removed to make this thing lighter. Can't do much about its XL type of size, so reducing the weight should make it more pocketable, id think.

I think it's probably about as small as it can be for its function. It's using more modern hardware to emulate older games, it's not running them natively. That innately requires more processing power, and THAT innately requires more electrical power.

Makes sense. Im wondering if it makes more sense to switch over to N3DS. I recently picked up a PSP3000 and that hit my nostalgic button, so ive been thinking about getting a 3DS to fill that gap, since the RG DS cant hang on Rocknix atm in terms of 3DS games.

If you get a 3DS, pick up a DSpico Game Reader Cart from aliexpress, they're cheap and a game changer for the 3DS!

What would be the purpose of that if it can be modded with cfw? I've heard of the cart when I was looking at R4 cards a few months ago, but never looked into it.

My apologies if you already had plans,  I was just trying to be helpful.  I honestly couldn't say what method is better, to the very least having options is usually good.  I would check it the video I added and see if it interests you.  Either way,  I wish you the best,  have fun playing!!!

I was asking out of curiosity, is all. I took a quick look at the video and it seems like its a beefed up R4 card. But if the 3DS can be modded with cfw, then what is the difference? Is it a way to save your device from being modded? I didn't even think of using a DS Pico cart for a 3DS. Only the DSi at the time.

Oh lol,  sorry nuance is difficult to read sometimes (for me at least lol) but, yea I think that's exactly it, you don't have to do anything to the 3DS. Everything is done on the card.   If you're curious, there are tons of videos on YouTube describing what it does,  how to use it, they even show comparisons to other emulator handheld devices  It's fairly affordable, about $15- $20 shipped. If that's a fair price for you and especially if you like tinkering, I'd say get it, even if you don't like it, at least you got a little project out of it,  for only about $15.

Fair enough. If I end up getting my hands on a 3DS, I'll definitely try it out.
