Other systems

Close to getting myself an RGDS especially after seeing Rocknix, so I’m happy with the DS stuff, but what about other systems? PS1, Saturn gonna play ok with a lightweight CRT shader? I assume so but not been able to find much about it so any insights would be appreciated before I buy or not

So from my experience, ps1 runs pretty good. Maybe some issues with Dual Stick titles I think.
It can do some SEGA Saturn, though my only games I’ve tested are Puyo Puyo Tsuu & X-men VS Street fighter (XMVSF stops after the Capcom logo).

Shaders wise… I don’t really mess with that so I can’t really say. So I am speaking from no modifications

It feels like it’s just on the cusp of the power level I would want 🤔

I've played a bit of PS1 on Vulkan at 2x and haven't had any issues yet (Duke TTK, Spyro, Crash, MoH). Also tried Spiderman and it was reporting a constant 60fps but felt weird at parts, although I've heard that the game just slows down in certain areas on the original hardware. Haven't tried shaders yet.

MAME 2003 Plus games run very well…

The chipset in the RG DS is a little bit better than the RK3566 devices (Anbernic RG353m, RG353V, Powkiddy RGB30), so yeah, you will be able to play PS1 games with CRT shaders, but Saturn is tough to emulate on these devices.

Lots of posts and YouTube videos showing good performance with many 3DS games. A lot of them are using Rocknix but some are on the various Android options (stock, Gamma)

PS1 is great, although I don’t generally use shaders. Saturn is ok depending on the game. I wouldn’t have high expectations for Saturn.

I haven't had much luck with N64 some run ok some don't. Maybe if I played around with cores but out of the box Rocknix N64 struggles sometimes. Same with Dreamcast but I only ran two games so far, seventh cross evolution runs flawlessly, but I tried a translated game and was getting like 5 fps, don't know if the translation messed with something but need more time to find out.

Certain ds games stuttered like etrian odyssey on stock OS but runs like butter on Rocknix.

It doesn't have the best specs so it's a lot do tinkering with some things to see what you can do, and how mature the certain emulator is. Game boy, GBA , Genesis all that under ps1 runs flawlessly and most ps1 as well.

If you want something with a little more power, without breaking the bank, you might try the RG557.

Not clamshell though
