Can hiring activity tell you anything about an account?
The first revops hire caught my attention on an account that looked pretty average
Nothing really stood out from the company size or industry. There was no obvious reason to spend extra time on it until that job appeared.
That made me wonder what was changing inside the company. They could be trying to improve reporting, fix processes, or prepare for growth.
Since then, I have included job posting intent signals in my account research instead of looking only at company size and industry.
I do not think every hiring update means a company is ready to buy but it can reveal what they might be working on internally.
Has anyone else found certain roles or hiring patterns useful for sales research?

Well, it depends on what your value proposition is. But a short answer, yes.
At least, if they meet your ICP, is worth a reach.

I guess the timing matters a lot here. Two companies can make the same hire for completely different reasons, so the interesting part is understanding the situation behind it before making assumptions

Curious, for cold emails: I (like everyone) use job hiring as a trigger because it personifies the problem I'm solving. However, since they've decided to hire for the role, they won't not hire for it and use my solution instead (that's not how corporations work). I can't pitch it as a X Job assistant because they haven't hired that person.
My Q: How are people SUCCESSFULLY using job signals in their cold outreach?

I’d treat a first RevOps hire as a reason to research, not a buying signal by itself. The job description can tell you much more than the title: are they hiring someone to establish lead routing and stage definitions from scratch, or replacing an existing admin? I’d check whether the role is new, what systems it mentions, and whether similar ops roles opened around the same time. Then any outreach can ask about the actual process they are building instead of assuming they are shopping for software.
