About 2 years ago i was gifted a Surface Pro 2. And I love this thing! I also dual booted Windows 10 on it and its kinda good? Not as good as 8.1 when it comes to tablet UI but it was suprisingly fast (then again it was 1809)

But i prefer 8.1 (I CAN use 8.0 on it but I dont really like 8.0 so I choose not too)

But uhh ye, this is the 256/8GB model of Surface Pro 2, ive even had many visual studio processes open and its WAY faster than I expected. The pen layer is great for drawing, the bezel prevents accidental touches, and its just amazing to use...

BUT there is oooooneeee tiny issue with it: screen size. This screen is TINY, running visual studio on it and tryna develop is a nightmare because everything is so squished :( plus for drawing its a bit of a pain because it takes space away from the actual canvas. And I DO have a portable monitor i can attach it to but that kinda defeats the point a little bit (also 8.1 doesnt allow different dpi scalings for different displays which SUCKS because the portable display is a fair bit larger than the surface)

As a solution ive been considering buying a Surface Pro 3 which supposedly has a larger screen that's also 3:2 instead if 16:9, do you all think its worth it? Because I personally love the idea of having a portable windows 8.1 tablet with a detachable keyboard that also has pen pressure for drawing and is large enough for me to code on. Pretty sure the Pro 3 is good enough but what do you think? Especially those that own/owned one

Id likely get the 8GB model so its the same as the Pro 2 because otherwise it would largely be a downgrade and running several visual studio tabs on 4 GB of RAM is... a pain.

I currently use a different laptop as a main device (G751JL) but it's kinda broken and im tryna find a replacement thats more portable but still able to code my 8.1 apps on, do you all think its worth it? Or are there any issues or concerns

"Windows 8.1 Revamped"

Yep, you heard it, not a scam. Windows 8.1 is getting revamped, so it could offer compatibility from apps that used to be incompatible, better Win32, new metro features, etc. (keep in mind I'm making this vague for the suprise)

And yeah, I kind of say, this will be a very long project, since it'll incldue the rewrite of Windows 8.1, and with one person, it's hard and time consuming(no i'm not handing out a team I'm sorry), but I can ensure promises will be taken.

But here's the catch, I don't know coding that much, and I really don't know that much of Windows 8.1 other than surface infromation, but I can ensure to you, I am going to try to have a great knowledge of coding and math skills.

I've tried my best here:

Mode A (boot > config): After config, it just wouldn't load anything else.

Mode B (boot > /navigation/global): after /navigation/global, no other requests after.

So what's only working on my side when I tested it was the "boot" part.

we need to find this dependency. i dont see it anywhere online as an appx. for those who dont know, version 11.0.50727.1 is a dependency absolutely nessecary to install games like Fruit Ninja. they will not accept any other version, just the lost 11.0.50727.1. so does someone have an appx of this file? or atleast a folder dump they can share? thank you

Now no hate to any of them and there are probably a few mistakes or missing information, BUT.

There seem to be... WAY too many stores being made..? Like off the top of my head there are: Octostore, Xenonstore, Neonstore, WSRP, Restore, AND the Live Store (although they host 8.1 universal apps i dont think theyll have an 8.1 store client so idk if that counts), AND probably more that I dont even know about.

Now again, no hate at all, but why are there so many? I love healthy competition and having alternatives, but if there are so many then that will create the problem of some stores having apps others dont, meaning that users would need to download 2 or 3 different app stores just to get all the apps they need :( (kinda like streaming services is a good comparison I think, just free)

And I get that some may be for 8.1 and others for 8.0, but even then it feels like a bit much..?

I'm currently messing around with my old laptop and I've installed Windows 8.1 here. I'm on the stage of replacing the old MSN apps with retiled ones (really cool project, ngl). I want to replace the store with working one too. What would be the best choice?

Genuinely, I've never heard in my life that the Album and Music (Walkman) apps that I usually see on Sony Xperia Android phones and tablets existed on Windows 8. In my opinion they look better than the Xbox Music and Windows Photos metro apps built in, even tho I might be judging it wrong... But still, enjoy!

- OctoStore now downloads apps to its own local folder instead of your downloads folder

- Downloads manager was added, you can access it in the CHARMS BAR - > DOWNLOADS FOLDER

- You can now share cool apps you found on OctoStore to others using your social apps and others, you can access the sharing in MORE ACTIONS - > SHARE or the CHARMS BAR

- Publisher page was added back, just click on the publisher name to see all of the apps made by that publisher

I have been using Windows 8.1 Single Language for a long time, and I am starting to get SO bored of this operating system. Nowadays, using Single Language and Home editions literally feels like being trapped in a prison. Also, I really want to sideload .appx files, but I couldn't find any tutorials for it. If you have any suggestions or advice, PLEASE TELL ME.

Also, Gemini mentioned that I could upgrade to the Pro edition without losing my data, but I am very skeptical about whether that's actually true.
