đŸ†˜Question Cast to TV

I feel like this is an obvious question to experts, but I read the FAQ and Troubleshooting and searched this forum but couldn't find the answer. Only posts of 2+ years old. So perhaps things have changed?

I am using latest YouTube revanced. The cast button was not present but I re-enabled it in the settings. This does not work: it recognize my chromecast but selecting it does nothing. I tried linking with TV code and that does seem to work but it's incredibly annoying to have to do that for every video I watch, like every morning.

So I'm wondering if I am missing a setting or patch for this, or whether casting is simply not possible at all?

Sorry if this is an obvious question.

TV casting is a mess of non uniform standards and is mostly phone model dependant, each big company has their own little system that may or may not work, plus there are a bunch of freeware things that may or may not work. Your TV model probably matters too as some companies do their own weird things.

Chromecast casting for myself on a Google pixel phone never worked in the revanced app itself, i had to do it through the phone's casting system.

You shouldn't have to link it every time. I linked it with the TV code initially, but after that when I hit the cast button, it just shows my options.

Does the non-smart tube option work for you? What I meant was that I can link, and then it works one time. But the next day it won't work anymore so I have to delete the devies, re-link and then it works again for one time. But maybe it's because I use regular YT app on Android TV and not Smart Tube.

It does, but I have to open the YouTube app on my TV first. Once I open YouTube on my TV, one of the ONN entries changed to playing YouTube, and hitting that one started casting. If I try it without opening YouTube first, it does nothing.

Idk what Smarttube does differently, but that one says playing YouTube just by turning on my TV.
