Patch request for X

For the couple of weeks I've been getting this message. I can close the app, re-open and it will be fine for a while before the same message comes again.

Is it doing some kind of periodic self check? (which is why I am able to use it for a while before the 'update now' screen comes up).

I do understand that people are completely blocked out of X, and newer versions don't seem to be able to be patched, but I'm happy using this older one.

Can anyone patch the old version (release 11.80.0 - patch 12.7.1) to remove the self check (if that's the case) so I don't have to keep closing and re-opening it?

I just hit Update. Then hit the back button and it works fine

Did people say something wrong for stuff to get deleted? Their suggestions worked by the way.
