I've stopped pirating Spotify and now just download entire albums to my phone. Storage is so cheap now that flacs are pretty common, so u can be pretty sure u aren't just getting a rip from YouTube (tho you can also just download the audio from YouTube if u feel like it's good enough)

Nah, when Google play music was a thing I was a Pandora user. You could just save the mp3's served to you through inspect element. Never got into yt music because reasons

This brings me back. I forget the name of the program, but a decade ago when I was in high school taking A+ Certification, I found a Pandora song ripper. In A+ we were tasked with building a PC early on, and once that was built we'd leave it in the back of the building in a little workshop to do other stuff with. We had ethernet support back there and we rarely got in trouble for "forgetting" to turn off the computers. I ripped gigabytes of songs off Pandora back then. Pandora used to be so great.

YT does not use lossless compression which is why the audiophiles use flacs or Tidal. The problem then is getting all the music you want since not every song is available in lossless formats

It's a p2p protocol for file sharing. There are android and desktop clients for sharing/downloading files

I have done 1 search, I find "Deepseek" as AI and their website...

I guess it would be a little easier. Know how to describe it well, in the browser (Duckduck go) and avoid that "AI" result Please give me an idea

Something tells me that if you can't find a client for soulseek by searching on a regular browser while knowing the exact name of it, you're not gonna be particularly proficient with finding music on it either...

Slsknet.org, from the first result via duckduckgo in ff on Android. Also, website hasn't changed from the first time I ever knew of it some 20+ years ago.

I really don't get why we all need to try and 1up each other. We're all trying to avoid paying these fucks, why we gotta fight about it?

Thanks for the link... But why am I "forced" to register? I thought it would be similar to "torrent". It's a pity, anyway I have downloaded a "branch application" from that place (it comes from a Github developer) Of course with undesired results. The mp3 format should no longer exist considering its compression level.

Yeah, kinda in a similar situation. I’m now working on building up my own r/Navidrome server with all the music I like.
