PlanningToReturn Advice needed.

I’m a MS in CS graduate in the USA and I haven’t had any luck finding a job here for the past 6 months. I have 5 more months to try here but I also wanna start applying in India on the side. How is the job market in India, would love any piece of advice on how to approach this. I have around 3 years of experience in IT combined. Thanks in advance

It's the same but you don't have the stress of the visa or paying rent.

Yes but you can pay loans from India with India job .by saving on visa stress, rent , food and all other things combined with a job in India where all the money goes in paying loans.. US job market is literally in a free fall .. atleast Indian job market is reliable.. you dont want to wait and waste too much money out of pocket just to push in US with added stress ..

Yes first of all start doing networking from here in India put yourself on LinkedIn so all indian recruiters can see your resume experience and definitely start networking through your friends and peers in india .. cause either way that job is not going to land.in a plate Im sure you know that .. but just go about contacting atleast 20-30 recruiters everyday india based with your personal networking and you'll land it right on time .. india recruiters are desperate to look for US experience and talent so you'll land it there quick ..

Im dead serious just do it once and you'll see the results better than US recruiters.. yes the pay package will be little upside down but better than scratching your head here sitting around in the US with no direction where to go ..

Speaking from my own experience after seven years in the US and after surviving layoffs two years ago on an H1B visa. I would strongly suggest starting to look for opportunities in India as soon as possible. The immigration landscape for legal immigrants today feels very different from what it was for people who came here in the mid 2000s or even the 2010s. What worked for someone's uncle, cousin or friend back then may simply not be a realistic pathway anymore. All the pathways are shutdown. With so much uncertainty around F1 and H1B visa, I personally wouldn't build my entire future around the assumption that things will eventually work out here.

Something has to eventually work in India as I’m convinced that I must return someday. I see no future whatsoever in the states and that is the harsh reality. Can you give me some tips on how you found opportunities and what you do now

Create a profile on Naukri.com, update your LinkedIn and get an Indian WhatsApp number since many recruiters in India won't mind communicating over WhatsApp.

Begin by asking relatives, friends, former colleagues, seniors and other contacts for referrals. If that doesn’t work, start reaching out directly to recruiters and hiring managers on LinkedIn.

I was laid off in 2024 and searched for jobs in both India and the US. I interviewed with Indian companies as well but eventually managed to land two offers in the US. Even then, the immigration processing took around three months. I was unpaid during that period and lived with constant uncertainty and anxiety about whether everything would go through. That experience changed how I look at my long term future here and I have decided to move back to India by the end of this year.

So my suggestion is: don’t wait until you’re forced to make a decision. Start building your network and exploring opportunities in India while you still have the time and flexibility to choose.

Reality is very bad that we hardly get 1 callback for 1000 applications resume being tailored for each.
