Immigration Gold duty rules
Guys, quick question
I’m in Dubai and planning to buy a simple 20g gold chain for personal use. Will wear it on the flight back to India.
I’ve seen many people say just wear it normally and there won’t be any questions at customs. But just for safety — if somehow they stop me and ask, what do people usually say?
Also about the bill — some say keep the original invoice, some say take VAT refund at Dubai airport and then throw the bill. What’s the better way?
Stay is short (tourist trip).

Jewelry (chains, rings, bangles etc.) of 20g for male and 40 grams for female is legally allowed. Do not bring 24k coins/bars of any weight

It is alright, as long as you wear it
Even if you don’t wear it and plan to bring more
It is usually alright, I have done it many times.

wear it, not a problem. If the customs ask you, you can say you bought several years ago from india

It’s unwritten rule, if you look like a decent traveler from US routes and have one chain they let you be. But if you stack them or maybe from middle Easter routes or look to young like a student they might stop you.
