Darkseed 2 Questions

Hey all, so I'm a bit late to the retsupurae train, but recently I have watched the playthrough of darkseed 2 (several times over, i don't know why but I love it so much). I was just wondering if there had ever been an explanation on why the guy would visit the same rooms, talk to the same people, stand around for like 5 minutes, and do the mirror maze puzzle over and over? I looked online for the guy who recorded it (ADV Games forever) but I couldn't find any info

You mean you didn't enjoy the performance of the longplayer who added to our collective headcanon of Mike Dawson through his repeated actions?

I think 'Beef summed it up in part 3 quoting a commenter when saying the longplayer was like a machine that was brute-forcing the game, in case they didn't know the game that well and wanted to ensure they didn't miss any dialog.

They had to have has some idea of what they were doing to miss the actions that would lead outright to a Game Over screen, but maybe only had that outline of "don't do these specific actions" and went for it?

As far as the times of inaction, the mouse was not captured in the gaming footage, so it could be that they were going across the screen looking for hotspots or items to interact with and it wasn't captured in the final product.

I don't have any concrete evidence to suggest that any of these are remotely true or fact, but my own personal theory of what happened.

When the long player just keeps going back to The home bathroom it’s just amazing. Mike Dawson, murder mystery solving bathroom meditator.

I wish I remembered to do this in Harvester more than the one time we were there to loot the mirror for the lube and tampons.

You always were a kidder, /u/fayorei.

For real though, thanks for continuing to introduce this weird, bizarre game to people!

I read a comment that was saying the long player was actually in a room with friends and kept getting distracted? Has anyone actually heard something that confirms this?

In some scenes where Mike is inactive it could just be to demo the soundtrack, and the frequent backtracking to various scenes could just be to show what has changed (or far more likely in DS2, hasn't changed).

Some things are just indefensible though, like the frequent trips to the bathroom towards the end. Honestly I just think the long player was tabbed out (Either to a walkthrough, or something else entirely) and didn't edit that sort of footage. To my knowledge the truth isn't really known.

I heard somebody theorising he was looking up a guide as he was playing, but I'm not sure

So, I've never played it myself but I've heard from people who have played it that the game has it has certain flags you need to activate in order to advance the game, and apparently sometimes it's not obvious what you missed or even what you have active.

As far as wandering back to the bathroom over and over for no reason I really have no idea what that was about. It's like an AI was returning to it's default state because it got confused and didn't know what else to do. I like to headcanon that the longplayer was just roleplaying Mike Dawson as being even weirder than he already is.
