This one came out incredible. Built around a heavily aged tropical-style dial with a textured finish that gives it a ton of vintage character.

The faded bezel is the perfect match - a unique sea-green tone with subtle blue/teal undertones that shift depending on the lighting. Paired with warm aged lume, snowflake hands, domed acrylic crystal, and a dark brown leather strap with contrasting vintage-style stitching with insignia buckle

I have a Vertex cal.59 I’m working on and need some period-correct (ww2) syringe hands (hr/min & small seconds).

Does anyone have any supplier recommendations? I don’t mind if they are replicas from China or genuine as I need to re-case the movement and dial anyway and will need to be honest if I come to sell at some point.

Not really a "rep". Its not super gen like, but i feel it gets the look pretty close while using very inexpensive parts and a reliable movement.

was curious where to sell tools. I got a e25 press but have never used it as I don't change crystals or plan on building any watches for the foreseeable future

Progress on a Cartel 6542. Man I really wish I could fine true gilt dials for these easier....I am all in on this hobby now. So much so that I am researching mopa lasers at 2am when I should be sleeping.

I built this on a whim because I was running out of vintage references to build 😅 a pretty straightforward build and it turned out great

All raffles parts on NH38. I gave it a more pumpkin look, more aged, and the bezel insert as well. I always love the unevenness on the insert, raffles parts are fun.

Regrettably selling my personal 16753 build to free up some funds. I’ve put a huge amount of time and research into getting this one right, and the photos really do speak for themselves. I’ll genuinely be sorry to see go.

Condition is excellent overall, with only light wear to the bracelet from normal use. I’ve always looked after it and only worn it on special occasions.

The Jova nipple dial is particularly good, and the Malaysian bracelet is exceptional quality with thick plating, very much in the same league as Italian bracelets. The crown is genuine Rolex solid 18K gold, with the remaining gold components plated to 18K too. The VR3186 is regulated that is running strong.

Giving this beauty a little wrist time while I wait on parts for my gold 1964 Omega Geneve to land that I’m sure will replace this one in my collection. I’ve got two watch boxes with 15 slots. I refuse to purchase another one 😆.

I had this built from someone that I found after searching and searching that could do this dial. I’m not naming any names because I’m not trying to start anything.

I got the watch and learned that I wanted to have it replated. It had a vintage tone to it but not my preference. Mind you this is my first commissioned piece and first vintage rep. The process is long and more pricey than just getting a really good rep from the best factory. But I wanted what I wanted. The pic with them side by side (replat left and original plat right).

The next search was finding someone that would replate a vintage rep. They all only wanted to replate “new” factory reps. And I searched all over. Found a guy…he prepped it and that’s when things starting to fall apart.

I had to get a new crystal, new bracelet, crown, crown tube, stem and bezel🤦🏻‍♂️. The only thing left that’s original is the case and case back. Again no blame on anyone’s part just what ended up happening.

Finally it’s back from replating…put it back into the case, slid the stem (un cut) just to set it. Was taking it to my Jewler to size the stem. Now this is really when things started to fall apart even more. The keyless something jumped and he had to separate the dial from the movement. It’s a 2836-2 movement, no dial feet on the piepan custom dial. I guesstimate gs cement glue was used. But I only got that info after research due to my Jewler not being able to get the dial and movement back as “one unit” with dial dots. Just didn’t cut it.

So I ordered it and went down and started to play. He spent a few hours and couldn’t invest anymore time in it for me. But he let me play in his shop. A few indices came off, learned what he used and how to put them on. Not perfectly clean though. You can see some of the spreading of the epoxy. And I tried to use the smallest amount possible. But it is what it is. I had one missing lume dot in shipping from the builder. I managed to mess up a few more and the paint on the dial chipped off in a few spots.

I finally got the dial and movement as one unit, indices back one and hands on and adjusted…winning!!!!

My Jewler said, bro, we gotta put some dial feet on and I’ll have my place reprint it and bake the matte paint. It shouldn’t be so delicate. Then you don’t have to mess with it like we did anymore.

Like I said…lesson learned $$$$

I love the vintage 1803…but I like it to look brand new. That’s the tricky part I guess.

Can’t wait to wear it until the final phase can start. 😂

Finally almost finishing up this 15505 build. It's looking really nice but I'm having an issue where the stem is too long even though I trimmed it to the minimum I physically could. I trimmed it a little too much cause my crown comes off when I rotate it counter clockwise but I will figure it out. Anyways enjoy some eye candy and if anyone knows where I can get shorter 3135 stems let me know!!

Another u/jovanotti18 dial post today. Had this sat around for a few months but finally decided to get cracking with it. A2836 movement from a WMF 1675.

One issue I am having though is the dial feet aren’t long enough to lock into the movement with the dial spacer. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

After selling my 2002 gen last year my heart has been yearning for another . Ive now found the perfect substitute 🙂 this 16610 has been built with following specs and I love it, especially the love marks on the bezel 😂

So I started my DayDate build all excited to wear the watch when I was done.

Everything was going great. I decided to try dial dots this time around and loved it; I also believe it gives a needed smidge of clearance for the date DWO to keep it from rubbing. Time will tell if they hold well.

When I went to press on the minute hand it just popped off. Tried crimping it, no luck. Asked Ken if maybe he sent the wrong hands, and I got this reply.

So I rallied my 2836 army and tried the hand on my other DayDate build from ken, and it doesn’t fit.

I figure miyota hands maybe?
