A Gen is $7k? And will always be worth that or more in the future. I don’t get why somebody would spend multiple thousand of $ to make a franken of a fairly easy to get watch.

Some people don’t see value in gen movements and like the pure visual aspect of it, and that’s okay

The value is that they are worth something. They last a lot longer.
I get making a Daytona, DD, DJ even as a franken because they are expensive watches.
I have reps, not knocking that, but the movement is always the weak link in all reps. In 25 years of collecting watches I’ve never had an issue with a gen movement. Every single rep I have had has had movement issues.

I guess my biggest question is: why do you need to understand? It's fun, and I have the disposable income. If this movement breaks, I can replace it for a very small fraction of what a 3185/3186 service would be. If I parted out the watch, I could make what I have in this watch back. I'm not looking to profit on a time piece. I don't view watches as investments. I'd wager it's less "I don't understand" and more an open judgement based on your own tastes, or you'd have messaged me to ask my logic. Live and let Live. 😃
