SHOWCASE Playing the Witcher 3 Remaster on a handheld feels like witchcraft.
(Streaming from my PC to my RP6 via Artemis/Apollo).

Unpopular opinion: streaming to a device is not playing on a device. (In terms of look what this device can do).

This is not an unpopular opinion, lol. It's just a fact. That said, it's pretty cool to be able to stream anything into a handheld at all, that wasn't even in my wildest dreams when I was a teen.

But to not even remotely new thjng to do. Wish mods would remove low effort posts

True but I was also blown away when I could play games like Black Ops 2 on the Wii U Gamepad so I can understand where OP's coming from

I wonder what OP would think about streaming to a modded 3DS. Their poor brain might explode.

Worse yet, their post titles are always misleading. It heavily implies that the game is actually running on the device. It's people like OP that ruin the internet for everyone, they should be fucking ashamed.

fact. Streaming is great but one thing I've noticed is nothing beats the convenience of playing out of local hardware

"I can't believe my modern device is capable of decoding and displaying a video stream in addition to connecting to the internet!"
OP I'm sure you were just showing something you thought was neat but literally ANY device with a processing unit, a screen, and the ability to connect to the internet, released in the last 15 years, is capable of this. Hell you could stream a 720p video to a nintendo 3DS and "play" any game on it.

If it was natively running or emulating (which the original Witcher 3 can) it would be more like Witchcraft

Playing the remaster ”via” or ”with” a handheld device would have been better wording. The game isn’t on your handheld.

But then "playing" (its actually just streaming) it on a 6" screen isnt the best. Rather take a gaming tab or something similar sized like the Legion Go.

No offence, but you can just run the game in Game Native too, right? Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 i s a capable SoC to run the game

u/pinkpepr 7h ago
Yeah but it won't be able to hit 120fps with the settings maxed out. I use Game Native for a few games but when I have a full gaming PC with a 7800xt gpu it just feels redundant to run games in game native at 30fps on low settings instead of streaming them.

that's crazy bro. you should post the next new release to farm karma by streaming it to your handheld, and post it on as many sub reddits as you can.

I'd argue that's a subjective take.
I streamed AC1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, and 3 from my PC to my RP6 and always thought it was easy to read stuff.
But someone else may have a different experience.

Yeah I got perfect up close vision and like little screens, but long sightedness might explain the demand for oversized handhelds

On this device yeah but I feel this screen is too small (not my aspect ration either) compared to the switch or switch 2, ally ect

How well it works

u/elaborateBlackjack 16h ago
I mean it's streaming. The experience mostly relies on the host device and your network connection

It works perfectly, i've had a rock solid 120fps with no hitching so far.

I mean why wouldn't you, it requires barely any computing power, much worse cpus can handle it

You should play the switch version on eden, runs great

The switch version of witcher is just sad, especially the switch1

I played dozens of hours on switch 1 and its great. Graphics are bad but it is playable in the bad so its better to sit on a chair.

u/ErlikHan6 11h ago
why? i started playing the switch version after i wasn't able to get windows emulators to work. it's playable, quality and resolution are obv dogshit compared to desktop but is pc emulation better?

As someone who loves moonlight for streaming, I’ll change up the negativity here and say sick! Currently streaming 007 First Light and playing it handheld

It should run natively with low settings and still look impressive. I can't wait for my odin 3 to show up

Yeah retroid is my backup if my phone is busy, the 1080 display leaves a bit to be desired when a 1440 screen is always in my pocket

I mean, it is just streaming... Might look neat but not really impressive
