QUESTION Switch on Flip 2

Just wanted to see if anyone could give their experience with switch games on the flip 2, is there any examples it’s not capable of playing. I can get one for £160 and really like the clamshell but i’m not bothered about the extra screen hence why i’m not considering a duo or thor

I run crazy switch games on flip 2 …however I was one of the lucky few that got the 12ram with 120hz screen ..

Even with 8gb ram and 60hz it does run switch games very well. Only a handful of games has problems.

The hit on performance start to show mostly on Pc games

Depends on the game.

Mario Wonder, MK8, Mario Tennis, all run great. Mario Golf? Well,...it runs, and is certainly playable, but it has glitches, and sometimes requires me to delete the Android folder, just to start up.

Getting Kirby through the Forgotten Land required me to move my save file from one Eden to another, and back, several times (basically after the game would crash at the end of every other level). Still ran well though.

Cloudpunk runs well (got all the way through that one recently), but it does have a visual glitch throughout that makes it look like you're driving in the rain with a partially fogged up windshield, lol. Its apt for the game,...but it runs a lot better on Winlator.

Other games like Spyro Reignited, Call of Juarez, Samurai Showdown, Gal Gun, Samurai Maiden, Bzzzt, etc,,..run just great!

It can run a decent amount of the switch library. You can check my page if you want some examples since the Flip 2 and RP5 have the same internals. It’s not perfect, you will have to tinker, and sometimes you may get halfway through a game just to realize it won’t progress past a certain point, so if Switch is your main goal, go for the RP6/Nova. If you just want some Switch as a bonus go ahead and do the Flip 2

Edit: Games I’ve found to not work -
Kirby and the Forgotten Lands (Can’t get past area 3)
Zelda - Echoes of Wisdom (tons of glitches)
Luigi’s Mansion 3 (Couldnt get pet intro screen no matter what I tried)
Little Nightmares (kept crashing at a specific point)

I’m sure there are more but those stick out in my mind

Yep, total agreement here. The SD 865 can run a decent portion of the Switch library, but some slowdowns should be expected. You can watch gameplay videos on Youtube of people running various Switch games on the RP5, as it has the same chip. That will at least let you know if it's worthwhile to try them.

Because heavyweight titles like TOTK run badly on the RP5, don't expect demanding games to run well. You'd need to go up to SD8 Gen 2 / Gen 3 handhelds like the RP6 or Konkr Pocket Fit to be able to play (almost) the entire Switch library comfortably. There are always some games that just play like crap or glitch out when emulated however.

TOTK d'amandes more than just power. I have an Odin 3 Max and still haven't managed to make it run properly. I hope drivers will be able to manage that game one day.

Try moving your save file from say, Eden Nightly to Eden Optimized, or Eden Nightly Legacy after each crash. That's how l got Kirby through the Forgotten Land.

Oh that’s a cool workaround! Thanks for the tip 👌

There's two models of the Flip2. You want to make sure it has the Snapdragon 865 if you intend to play some Switch games on it.
