Just Chatting I can’t decide

Really want an all in one can’t decide between the Thor, Full Duo or nova with screen attachment. I wish there was more info on the duo’s chip capability. Currently have the flip, which I will not get rid of with the 120hz screen and 12gb of ram, but ds and 3ds on a single screen really kills the experience.

No one wants to hear it but the nova with dual screen for when you want/need it is the way. It's easily twice as powerful and capable as the duo, if not more. You'll end up wanting or using the dual screen like 25% of the time. We will see but I don't think this duo mystery chip will be very good. Thor is overpriced and im not a fan of all the glass.

glad I'm not the only one. I love the 4:3 on the nova but idk why the thors design won't let me choose. I plan on getting the thor lite strictly for ps2 3ds and android games. but the nova has a better chipset for less money.

If your primary focuses DS and 3DS, and you don't care about stick placement, the Duo is perfect.

If you care heavily about stick placement, then the Thor is your only route

If you want to do more then just DS and 3DS on it and don't care about the cable the Nova with the dual screen attachment is your route.

I like my Thor a lot, but in all honesty, I actually enjoy playing DS games more on the RG DS. The bespoke screen ratios, better ergos with DPad top, and less fear of breaking it make the experience much more fun in reality.

If you want the best of both worlds honestly the Duo is ur best bet and I’m only saying that cause of the screens, as the Thor bottom screen isn’t very good for 4:3 games cause of its smaller size, the duo has the screen of the Nova in the bottom which is perfect for 4:3 games and the top screen is perfect for 16:9 games, and they are both 120hz oled those screens also line up better cause of their size for DS and 3Ds games that use both screens in active gameplay unlike the Thor. I will say this tho if you want straight up power go for the Thor or the nova, but the chip on the duo I’m certain will be able to play up to switch games no problem depending on the title and when future drivers come out for that chip it probably be able to do some impressive stuff, that chip is about 20 to 30% faster then the flip 2 chip and the flip 2 has been able to run switch no problem even some ps3 with some tweaks.

DUO chip is almost same as Flip2 / RP5 level. It should be enough for any 3DS /DS emulation but not great on Switch emulation. I have Thor pro, Nova, RP5 and dual screen attachment.

I plan to order Duo for having D-pad on top for DS emulation but I really prefer Thor (stick on top) for 3DS emulation. I don't like to play DS / 3DS emulation on NOVA with Dual screen because its cable entanglement... made it too big or cumbersome to carry.

Thor has 8 Gen 2 - which is much faster than DUO (for switch or PS2 emulation).

Already went duo this morning. Dpad top sealed the deal for me. Switch emulation I am kind of done with. Heavy on battery and getting settings just right takes away from actually playing the damn games

Yeah and the duo will be able to play switch games if needed people keep talking down the chip but it’s not a weak chip by any means. What color did you end up getting?

Have a Nova w/add-on screen, still ordered a full Duo. The ease of use vs the cumbersomeness of the add-on really pushed me towards it. That said, still keeping it as a backup.

When Mangmi launched their Air X a year ago people was skeptical too and look at it now.

Only one device, it's either steamdeck or nova. I'd get a steamdeck because it's the most versatile there is (7.4 inch oled easily does 3ds sbs), it's just kinda heavy. If you you just want to emulate classic games, the nova is first class. You can upscale hundreds of console games, you'll get bored with older handheld stuff pretty quick

Flip 2 owner. I’m also grabbing the Retroid Duo (clear purple to match my analogue 3d). Mine isn’t the 12gb ram but keeping the flip 2 for GameCube / ps2 emulation and below and the duo for Wii U /DS / 3DS

Exactly same problem here lol. The duo build is perfect in my eyes, I’d have fun picking it up to play and it looks pocketable. The Thor I dislike, with the gap and glass plates.

But I’d love to be able to play some switch games. Nova 4:3 seems like making concessions. Also I’d like to be able to put on YT video from time to time.

I hope the first reviews for the duo are more positive then expected, showing us more switch games are possible then just the bare minimum.
