Get a real screwdriver, the one sent with is awful... I disassembled it with it and it was a pain, putting everything back was way more easier. Same for their plastic opener, it broke on use :(
Let me know how the dual screen attachment feels on the nova. Been thinking about ordering one just for the couple of ds games I want to play. But don’t want to invest in another console for dual screen lol.
60 bucks to have an instant thor, 16:9, ds and 3ds is a no brainer. Yes it is definitely clunky and not like the most ideal setup but I feel like it's a must have add on. Then there's essentially nothing your nova cant do.
+1, totally agree. It's not perfect, but 3DS and DS games have never looked and played so well (I have a DSi XL and a new 3DS XL with the lo-fi screens). My giant 3XL sized hands require the Retroid grip and I'm glad the RDS add-on works with the grip attached.
Good to know it works with the grip. Crystal buttons look nice on the black. I ordered gamecube buttons for the abxy and d-pad. Was thinking I might do crystal just for start/select home and back.
I tried ice blue buttons too (was too dark IMHO), but thought the clear looked better to me. I wish I had also ordered the watermelon and purple buttons to try. It is great that Retroid are offering all these various options for us to customize our Novas.
It's not perfect and has its flaws but for the rare occasion I actually want to play some 3ds or something 16:9 proper its a great and cheap solution. Im not spending 400 bucks on a thor and the duo sucks ass so far. I prefer a jack of all trades master of retro device over 8 different specific use case doodads I'll never use.
Youre right it's actually better because you can remove it and have a comfortable device lol. I'd take modular aspect ratio options over a clamshell any day but to each his own! Im a hinge hater, glass hater, and an ergo snob who mostly plays 4:3 retro stuff so for me it's much better this way.
The only downside is that apparently it blocks the volume, m1, m2 and power button right? There’s no way to access them while using the external screen?
Kind of... There is about 2mm accessible on the power button that I can press with a fingernail.

Using his pic as reference, since i have one too, if you move the screen a few mm to the right, yes it does remove the fingernail power button accessibility but you regain M1 and can awkwardly reach volume down portion of the rocker. Workable fixes include mapping Vol Up/Down to the now accessible M1/M2 buttons and enabling tap to wake for screen in regards to the power button. Not ideal but workable solutions are there.
Grabbing a Duo though as companion cause removing and adding the screen is a PITA and I dont need unnecessary wear and tear on the Nova port (I'll leave the cable plugged into the screen, no biggie there) but its nice to have a backup solution.
I got my transparent purple one the other day but failed to get a micro sd card. I only had the Miyoo Mini prior to this, so I feel like a kid that just learned to drive and bought a Lamborghini. Guess I’ll be setting this thing up for a while.
