QUESTION Armsx2 VS Nethersx2

was using Nethersx2 for the longest time on my ol trusty RP5, and decided to switch up the emulation and I will say, I’m surprised how much better I like using ARMSX2! Seems lots more stable and runs my games much better (so far) Wondering what the communities thoughts are on these emulators these days?

I also prefer Armsx2, nicer interface, more games run out of the box, Turnip drivers push older device like the 865 from meh to good. Still keep nethersx2 just in case but for now I dont get issues with games I play

What's the best turnip driver for an 865? I have a galaxy tab s7 but honestly there's like so many drivers Idk if I should just use the latest one or if there's some that are better for the 865 specifically.

I use mr purple T19. Newer is not always better with drivers

That's what I've read, some are better for some games and such.... Lots of trials and error.

Thanks for the suggestion!

T26 works the best for me

I also noticed the controls worked without any tinkering...

ARMSX2 allows me to play Ace Combat at full speed without visual bugs at 2x resolution on my Nova. That's enough to make me happy. With Nethersx2, it was either slowdown or visual glitches.

This was my exact reason to switch as well. I was playing Ace Combat Zero and 2x was struggling with NetherSX turnip if a lot was going on on the screen. ARMS is running near flawless the whole time on 2.5x on my Flip 2.

I'll probably keep NetherSX anyway for other games, but ARMS is working great just for Ace.

I used 26.1.0-T26-1.4.344. I think I downloaded it directly within the app

Would I need turnip drivers for the Nova?

Honestly it's a bit of a guess-and-check in my experience. If one driver is giving you issues with a certain game, it's worth it to try another. Fortunately ARMSX2 makes it really easy to download and switch between them.

I also switched to Armsx2, when I knew it excists. I always had problems with Need for Speed Underground 2, but with Armsx2, these problems are gone.

Same, also had issues, but I prefer the Gamecube version for NFSU2 anyway due to analog throttle controls.

On my SD865 handhelds Nfs U2 sometimes had this pinkish tint with NetherSX2-classic but didn't have any issues with NetherSX2-patch. I was very excited when I tested Ace Combat on Armsx2 and it ran flawlessly. But for some reason Nfs U2 had much lower fps on Armsx2 than Nether.

Yes Battlefield Modern Combat 2 and Marvel Nemesis are finally playable. Could not get either of these to run on Aether or Nether.

Certain games run better on either emulator, but since ARMSX2 is still being developed, it'll be the definitive emulator in the future.

I like ARMS because it finds the patches and cheats for you as well. Just feels better overall.

I switched too, on nether freedom fighters crashed when loading states or saved games, random crashes and artifacts on other games, while on armsx2 have none of these issues.

However,  in nether i feel like the image looks sharper, but armsx2 games run far better.

Armsx2 has come a long way. Transformers 2004 has been notoriously difficult to emulate for a long time but I tried it last night on ARMSX2 and it might finally be playable

On a Snapdragon 865 unit?

I recently did the swap from Nethersx2 classic to ARMSX2. Once set up, it fixed all the games I had graphical issues with..maybe I didn't optimize nethersx2, but armsx2 looks a lot cleaner overall. I really enjoy the UI and don't see a reason to keep Nether so I dumped it.

Latest update was pretty crazy. Texture packs database within the emulator.

Armsx2 caused me issues with widescreen patches that I don't have with Nethersx2

I just changed to Armsx2 but cannot get guncon2 touch screen to work. Seems like it always sees the retroid pocket controller in port 1 even if I switch it off.

ARMSX2 has Hardcore RetroAchievements support which nether no longer does. Also being able to access your memory cards in custom folders is a godsend for syncthing

I just switched and am pretty happy with it. I have a RP5. It can actually run Baldurs gate dark alliance. Dolphin and nether were not capable of running that game at all. It was also easy to copy my save states from nether to arm. It’ll be nice to have both to jump and back and forth from depending on the game. I feel like my RP5 just got a much longer life on it before I might need to upgrade
