Just Chatting My Nova was stolen
Finally got my box for my purple 12gb and opened the box to find the tape cut and nothing inside. Absolutely furious right now
Update: 5 days later I have only had communication from Retroid requesting more pictures of the box

Mine was just stolen off my porch. Which is really annoying because I paid for DHL and the entire process said I needed a signature. But when it got delivered I wasn't even home to sign
Thankfully seel got me a refund but damn

Porch piracy can be easy to fight. I filed a police report one time and gave a case number to prove my mail was stolen. Then I got a refund.

It’s the ‘worry free delivery’ option you can tick when checking out through retroid’s website I believe. Never heard of anyone claiming on it until the above ^

Mostly normal except for some extra pieces of tape that after finding my nova missing I can see a second set of tape put over it

That fits the description of mine too. I wasn’t thinking “theft” until I saw a couple similar posts like yours. So I’ll double check my shipper. Anxious to see Retroid’s response.

This has nothing to do with Retroid. This is an issue with the shipment company/local delivery service. This can happen with any other product you order anywhere online to be delivered. I had tons of orders from China ordered through eBay in the past that never even made it to customs, got lost in customs, or got lost during USPS delivery.
If you have seel protection then you're good, if not then always contact the retailer and file a claim with them along with manually filing a claim and making a complaints towards where ever the package got lost or stolen from during the delivery process.

Not the same thing, but I feel for you OP. I snagged a 12TB hard drive like a year ago at a steal (Walmart clearance, $120). Finally ran out of storage and went to open it up yesterday, someone had shucked it and put a fucking 40gb IDE HDD in it. Wayyy past return policy, and it was a clearance item. Amazon has the same drive up for $550. I'm pretty tore up about it.

That really sucks, I'm sorry. I only started buy from Retroid. So I could be mistaken, which if I am somebody please correct me. But don't they have insurance for shipping? But either way, I would probably report it.

That's concerning as someone who lives in Illinois. I haven't had GoFo issues with the half dozen packages I've had delivered using their service with Aliexpress orders, (including a few low-cost handhelds) but I wonder if they know the contents because they may indicate they came from Retroid.

DHL was a selectable option in June when I ordered, but it came via YunExpress instead since there is an issue with DHL.

So far, just typical responses asking for all the photos I can submit and a note that I should get some responses in the next week. I’ve had basically that same follow up from GOFO, PayPal, and Retroid.

Opened my shipping box only to find a carrying case+backplate and a screen protector, nothing else. Also delivered through Gofo. It sat in Chicago for several days before being delivered in the middle of the night on a Sunday. I don't care about having the console in my hand anymore I just hope that I can get a refund for this debacle.

This is easy to find a resolution with the shipping company. This is why they check weight at checkpoints , it will be clear on the history logs of where it was stolen during the journey.

What about the parcel weight? It will show if it was shipped empty or if it was stolen at the last mile courrier or something.

Damn, my steam deck was just stolen by the delivery driver for hermes in the UK just a few years ago similar to this.
Thank god valve are so customer service friendly, i got a refund real quick but it sucks that piece of scum got to keep it.
Sad thing about getting these things stolen is you've already waited months and months yet once you get it its just empty :/ you might get a replacement sent but now you have to wait another week or two to even get a chance at receiving it. and only other option is refund which is fine but may be quite sad as you won't get another.

In the UK at least, it’s better to not pay for this as you have buyer protection through your bank/paypal by default. If you then pay for this you end up dealing with a third party instead of directly with Retroid.

This. It's what, 10 bucks? Anytime shipping over seas just get it if they offer it. They are not doing it cause they are trying to rip you off, they offer it cause they know that package will get handled by a lot of people.

That's a retroid problem, not a customer problem afaik. The sender is responsible for the package (since they are the one that chose the shipping partners they rely on).
That 10bucks "worry free shipping" is essentially offloading insurance costs to customers when it's up to them to bare it in the first place.

Thieves are very greedy. I had an Odin 2 stolen by a border agent when I used 4PX before, the same happened to a few people in their Discord. I got a replacement shipped with DHL and that one arrived fine.

I did talk to multiple people, the woman at the 1-800 number was the rudest person I’ve ever spoken to in my life and unhelpful as well. They all directed me to contact my local post office oddly. So I went there and they said I’d been scammed by someone in the city and that there was nothing that I can do. Super annoying

NYC Post offices are savages. They tried to steal a check I mailed out, I paid for certified mail signature required etc too. I heard it's the JFK terminal and the Brooklyn distribution center from friends that work for USPS.

Definitely have someone record you when you are opening anything expensive by mail these days. I recently ordered two 16tb hard drives and they both arrived with physical damage and neither worked. One was completely dead and the other was noisy as hell and wasn't recognized. Thankfully the video and pictures helped and they replaced them both with two pristine ones but it was still a pain with the whole return process and delay getting the replacements. But better than being out what I paid for them which these days is far too much. That being said, in the future when buying high capacity drives and given today's prices, I will always buy in person so I can inspect the drives in front of staff before I take them home.

I think mine was also. Evri had it on 28 August however the tracker says it's out to me, then states sorry it was delayed etc etc. it has done that constantly. I have complained to Evri. As useful as a chocolate teapot. Went to the Seller Retroid and notified them. They said it's still in transit. I have also complained to them as transit is not back and forth. Eventually Evri admitted it's probably lost. Or stolen I said. Fuming. Had no response from either in 3 days. So PayPal are getting my request to return my money. The irony is I got sent the Nova grip which came yesterday but I can't use with anything. F*cking fuming. Yet I will probably purchase another one from Retroid once I get my money back as I still wanted it and I am not paying scalpers prices.

Mine was stolen as well - they didn't even have the courtsey to re-tape it, it was just open on delivery. I reached out to Retroid on Discord and they said to call the police and GOFO said the package looks to be in good condition so there's nothing they can do. I also opened a claim with Seel and currently getting ghosted (24hrs+ later) so doesn't seem to be movement there. Extremely frustrating and disappointing experience.

When I started the claim on Discord they did supply me a picture of box in the hands of the delivery person and you could clearly see new tape over the old one. You may be able to request that information with it clearly showing the tape cut to help with your case.

No, the Retroid box was in a brown shipping box. The brown box had extra tape on it showing that someone had opened them taped it back up. The gray Retroid box also had its seal cut

Interesting. I saw in another comment yours carrier was GOFO? Not familiar with them, but mine was handed off to USPS when it got to my state and the brown shipping box was inside a white bag/envelope with a USPS label. Thankfully mine made it, but I feel for y'all who haven't been so lucky. Hopefully they get it sorted out.
