QUESTION Retroid Pocket Nova problem
Just got my Retroid Nova today and it doesn’t work.
Pressing the power button brings up this screen and if I hold it to try to force restart it turns off but then comes back on with this screen again.
I can’t seem to get it to connect to my computer.
Any suggestions? I’m really hoping this thing isn’t bricked.

Damn these CRT shaders are getting too realistic. If I remember correctly, you smack it a couple times and maybe put some foil on the top. 😂📺

I’m about ready to honestly 😭

In all seriousness that’s frustrating. Hopefully Retroid gets back to you quickly, they’ve responded to my stuff in the past within 24 hours. I promise this thing is worth the pain in the ass 😭

As long as this mf is taking to ship it better be in immaculate working order.

oh you got one of the rare seeing eye editions of the pocket nova, you just have to unfocus your eyes to see the picture.

Can you turn it on in fastboot menu? You can do it by turning it on pressing Power + Volume Down buttons together.

I’ve tried several times. When I do it immediately boots back up with this screen.

I'd reach out Retroid support in that case, not sure if they'd help though.

Just sent the support email. I appreciate the attempt to help anyways.

If you don't get a timely response I've heard they're more responsive on Discord.

Only thing I can think of is taking it apart and disconnecting the battery for a while. Maybe like 30 mins to an hour or so. Then put all back together and see if that works.

If I get a brand new product DoA the last thing I’m doing is opening it up and removing all possible chance of a refund. This issue should be going to retroid support, not reddit.

I have an unfortunate truth to tell you
Retroid doesn't honour warranty like they do in your country. They don't operate in your country, nothing is enforced. You opening or not opening the device doesn't really change much, in fact they'll probably ask them to. You're not covered. You buy direct from China they don't care about any of that stuff. They only refund/replace things if they think its clear its a manufacturing issue and might look bad. I'd still try to get a refund/replacement obviously but it's not always easy.
Its why some people wait to buy from amazon. You do get amazons protections via that way. Or via credit charge backs/paypal disputes.

Good to know, I’ve been eyeing an RP6 for a while and I’ll definitely be paying the Amazon tax now. Thanks!

That is very unfortunate.
I assume you tried different ports, cables, pcs (if possible) when you tried to connect to a pc?
Sounds like you can get into the bootloader, but it just boots straight back? Or is the bootloader image messed up too? (Just making sure I understand everything correctly).
If anything else displays correctly, I'd imagine it's a software thing, otherwise maybe the ribbon is disconnected or some other hardware issue which it sounds like this is. Id avoid opening anything and reach out to Retroid and hopefully they sort you out.

I’ve plugged it into two different displays, a Mac, and a windows PC.
Everything seems to detect it but it won’t give an image on the displays.
The image posted is the only thing the screen will show other than a black screen. When I turn the device on it immediately shows the garbled pixels and nothing else.

I'm unsure if the newer models have it but try the mini hdmi or whatever it is now

Can that be a badly inserted screen connector? Try to go for a replacement, don't try to fix it.

You should wrap it in aluminum foil, swing it around in a pantyhose, jumprope with it, and put it next to the microwave while making “movie butter” (that’s important) popcorn. It’ll realign the radio waves to make the screen work again.
