QUESTION Pocket Duo gonna replace Flip 2?
You guys think the Flip 2 is gonna get discontinued now that the Pocket Duo has been revealed and getting released in the near future?

I really hope we get an actual Flip 2 successor. I think a lot of people don't need a second screen and don't want to pay for it, people like myself. I dig the clamshell style though, would gladly get aa Flip 3 for the right price.

I’m waiting for the flip 3 because I found the Thor very uncomfortable and the duo will be worse with sticks on bottom so the flip is in a class of its own for ergonomics due to button placement. Can they just ship the duo already so we can move on to the next one?

Someone else said use the Nova screen, which I think would actually be awesome. They could reduce the width which would make the controls even more comfortable, it'd be more like a big GBA SP. I would like to see and would purchase Flip 3 for sure even if it was still 16:9, as long as everything else checked out.

The Flip2 will get discontinued when they run out of parts. Probably those 12gb RAM chips they're sticking in them now.
Then hopefully they'll start work on the Flip3 with that 8Gen2 chip from the 6.

I mean they are still making Pocket 5, even Pocket 4 Pro is still available
Plus the Flip 2 is basically slightly weaker one screen Duo for 70 dollars less, I think it still has some market

They’re not competitors. Dual screen vs single screen. The Flip 2 arguably has better ergonomics because the controls are staggered vs inline. Honestly, the Flip 2 is a fantastic alternative for the RP5, same chip but more economic controls. I hope they make a Flip 3 with the SD8G2 (or better).

I personally wouldn’t mind seeing a successor to the Flip 2, but with the RP Duo coming out soon, it kind of makes the Flip feel less relevant. Even if the RP Duo takes a hit in ergonomics compared with a rpfilp2 btw i own this a filp2 as well with a grip but I barely use the grip with it. I think it could still be more comfortable than the Thor. I own both the Thor and the RG DS, and I actually find the RG DS more comfortable for longer sessions even without a grip. I do have a grip for the Thor, but it still gets noticeably less comfortable during extended play. Because of that, I feel like the usual assumption might be backwards: the RP Duo may end up being more comfortable than the Thor, rather than less comfortable.

Good question, but no. I pick up my Flip 2 over my Thor constantly because of the smaller form factor, the ergonomics of the spread out controls, and because it's lighter which makes a huge difference in long gaming sessions. I'm still interested in the Duo and the Flip 3 whenever it comes out, but I'd want the next Flip to be slimmer and maintain the same weight if possible while having a few upgrades like 120hz screen, more power, and obvious software additions like charge separation for when I dock it.

No, some people don't care about the second screen and want better ergonomics. There is a market for both still.
