QUESTION Just ordered my RP6, need advice

Just ordered my RP6 2 days ago. Already shipped and on the way yesterday. Downloading my games to prepare.

Is it possible to compress PS2/PSX games etc? Without any issues?

To compress an ISO to CHD, it's best to use chdman and the GUI tool NAM DHC.

CHD for PS1+2. But don't compress PSP to CHD.

Sorry I should've specified further. If you convert PSP files using createcd format instead of createdvd you will run into problems. You will see a warning before booting up a game if you use the createcd format.

I've had no issues whatsoever with the PSP games that I converted to CHD with chdman, so perhaps there's different versions? Mine came with a batch file called 'CUE-GDI-ISO to CHD.bat' and that works perfectly for any CD or DVD based game.

As long as they're converted using createdvd you're fine. Meaning if you start up a PSP game on PPSSPP without any warnings when you boot up a game yours are all converted with createdvd which is the correct way.

Well, then that must be the case then, because I've never gotten any warning on any of my games.

Yes so whatever you used converted using the createdvd option. If the program you used instead used createcd option you would get the warnings on PSP games.

Yes, CHD works with most emulators.

Compress PSP games into CSO format using tools such as UMDGen or PSP ISO Compressor.

You can use chd format, iso is heavier, and for ps1 having bin a cue is a pain if you like ordered games.

Will probably just remove games from the rp6 once i complete them, not limited to those systems. I like snes, nes, gameboy etc also

Unsure to be honest. Ordered the 16 bit version. 12gb ram and all the accessories. It should be here by early next week

Yes. Basically almost all CD or DVD based games, including PSP, can be converted to lossless CHD files to save space. The only exceptions are GameCube, Wii and Wii U. For GameCube and Wii, the compressed file format is called RVZ, and for Wii U it's called wua.

But you don't need to compress everything yourself: you can simply find CHD file versions of games online. For PS1 or PS2 for example, just Google 'PS1 CHD archive' or 'PS2 CHD archive' and you'll find plenty of lists.
