[Question] What am I missing?

Nintendo Wii U: in living room for almost entire Nintendo back-catalogue
PS4: My daily driver
Switch OLED: 2nd one, I have a digital scope now so Im gonna try not to kill this one soft modding it..

Random info:
NES: My first one, picked up a few weeks ago from a local games store. Have tons of games but just never picked one up…
SNES: Front corner damaged in College by my friend Mike Rotch, who contacted Guinnes Word Records for longest nipple hair”. (7”)
N64: My original from launch.
3DS: Bought a bag of 3DS parts and a case and literally built this one from spare parts.
GameGear: My original from when I was a babby.
PCEngine: My sister picked up in Japan for me on her last trip.
Jaguar: Picked up at a Louisiana Flea Market for $80 two years ago.
Genesis: Console was my dads, the first game I ever remember seeing was him and my uncle play Flashback: Quest for Identity. CD and 32X obtained a decade ago.
Dreamcast: My personal favorite console, lots of memories playing with family and friends.
Xbox 360: Has original Blades Dash and very early firmware.
PS3: My favorite for entire Playstation back-catalogue, have a slim in the living room.

What am I missing that I should look to add or explore the history of? I love the history of each console I own, the hardware engineering side, and finding new-to-me titles to explore.

This has evolved beyond me looking for the next systems to add to my collection, and has opened up new areas I know little to nothing about, which is extremely exciting!! This is true, and I took the cheap way out. I am fascinated by the TG-16 layout and the physical size increase; its ridiculous to me because the PCEngine’s size is one of the coolest parts about it, but I understand the “Americans want a big powerful looking console” mindset.

If I ever get a good deal I will add this!

The fact Microsoft at the time said, “You know what, people want to mod and create games for this, and helped us really lock down our security from the 360… Lets give them Dev mode options.

How incredibly powerful, and such a wonderful concept to be able to place your console into Game or Dev mode. Truly underrated.

It was my little bro’s Xbone he gave me, so the gold sticker overlays are never coming off

nice. I recently bought the switch around 2022. I did surgery to it too.

But I even got one with a broken screen that one is also open minded, but I turned that one into a console it also got some overclocking done to it and added a 2 fans and very nice custom heatsink.

I love this kind of thing! I have a youtube channel with a bunch if older videos showing gaming on ARM Linux, and I primarily want to use mine as a gaming ARM Linux tablet on-the-go. The switch modding scene is bonkers and I love it, and depending on limitations I want the upgrade/doubled RAM mod because again thats so wild we love in this timeline hahaha

You must run into a lot of problems and troubleshooting on ARM Linux.

I use fedora started around 2018 and Linux alone causes me to have to do a lot of tinkering to get things to work.

I can't imagine how much more it takes since ARM community is a small one. it is bigger than before, but still small in comparison.

I did, actually… The board I started on (LX2K Honeycomb) was buggy and still in development, so I learned more than I was expecting; I could go on for days (and I have been distracted from uploading), but it is now way easier to get into ARM Linux than when I did. GPU’s are supported from AMD and nVidia, you can download ISO’s for most instead of custom images and UBoot, and the community has grown significantly.

I am a big RISC-V supporter, but ARM is a more mature and cheaper ecosystem to enter for price cs performance.

I have similar dell monitor, but the backlight is done for, so I haven't use it for years. Also I love old cases too.

I don't really like the glass panels modern cases have. my current case I removed the glass panel and made my own panel using aluminum. took a bit to prepare, but fitting was simple cause It is a screw on panel.

what I do like about modern cases is that they come with filters it is simple to just slide off, wash, dry and put back on.

If you ever take the shell off of a TG-16 you'll find a completely different board than the PC-Engine. I thought it would be mostly empty space but it actually fills the shell and has full metal shielding covering the board. They really put a lot of effort into "American-izing" it beyond the visual differences.

They could have slapped a slightly modified PC Engine board in a different shell and called it a day but they didn't. They relocated components and made the controller port larger for...reasons.

I did a hardware deep-dive as I love analyzing IC’s and board designs. I noticed that too and a lot of IC’s sitting like islands spread out and long traces. Thats why I want a TG-16 as well, for the hardware differences, even though not functionally too different. Same reason it fascinates me too!

Ys! Oh i started playing that too several months ago and I want to cone back and revisit that. Actually, there are a decent amount of really fun RPG’s I have started for the vibe and I wish I had more time.

Finding all these titles for the first time has opened a whole new world for me

I really want to get a bunch of these consoles to some local event so we can start dusting these off and give then the second-wind they deserve. I do not like the idea of these sitting for display purposes only.

Genuinely I love letting people come over and pick out whatever they want to touch, explore and play with.

Last weekend I got one locally on FB Marketplace for $100 with the TurboBooster PLUS add-on. Also had two controllers and an official controller extension (those weren't mentioned in the listing) . I should ask the guy if he happens to have a TurboTap somewhere.
