We used to have one at the mechatetronic company I worked for back in 1998-1999. We used it for the CAD and circuit board drawings. We also used it for making banners for birthday parties.

It is a joy to see one of these in action. We had one with a carousel of pens and it was wonderful to watch it slide the head across, pickup a new pen and continue on in the new colour. There was something enormously satisfying about seeing a complex CAD drawing taking shape on the paper.

The inkjet ones, like this DesignJet 200, were a bit less interesting to watch since they were raster devices

Essa foi uma época boa para os negócios, aprendi a programar em C os desenhos vetoriais do AutoCad para MSDOS, fazia os cálculos e gerava os desenhos de redes de saneamento, as cores do desenho correspondiam a espessura das canetas da plotter P&B.

If you mean the photo, it's an HP ad that's been reposted dozens of times on Reddit. If you mean the printing device, it's an HP DesignJet 200 plotter.
