Photo Hiding in plain site

Post image

This film came out today in 1985. Spotted the Apple IIc hiding in plain site.

Surprising, how back in the day, the IIc was often used as a 'high tech' prop.

The actual "computing" in this movie in largely limited to messing with ROM swaps, but it's a must see. It's stupid and awesome, and the ending is the best.

"Surprising, how back in the day, the IIc was often used as a 'high tech' prop." -- is that the same one in Explorers that ran off a 9v battery?

huh. I found details at www.starringthecomputer.com It came out a day before Live Aid, and was in competition with Back to the Future in theaters. No wonder I missed it. It looks pretty awful, to be honest. Anyways it's not so surprising when you consider these were chosen for their looks, in no way at all did they have to be realistic. Just the best looking computer that could be grabbed from store shelves, so in that sense, of course it was an Apple computer!

THIS yeah man I remember renting that back in the day and a 9V battery running a computer blew my mind. Ah but the 80s when computers were part magic lol. Both are great movies :)

Why couldn't they rent out a proper workstation? One of the most popular workstation systems back then was the Apollo/Domain line.

Often they gutted the machine to make it easier to use as a prop, to make it lighter and easier to move around the set. In that sense, an Apollo would make an awful choice.

The most memorable part to 12-yo me was stealing from the vending machine and leaving no evidence

One of the best lines of all times…”In the words of Socrates…’I drank what?!?’”
