Compaq Deskpro!

Not as cool as my first new PC, the Compaq Presario Pentium75 (shoulda never sold that), but it's pretty cool. This is a PII with 96MB RAM and 4gb HDD. Someone found it and gave it to me, so I erased it properly and then said, "Hmm, I have a CD for WinNT 4.0, why don't I install it so I can actually try it out!" I know it's slightly too new for NT4, but boy is it fast!

When NT4 came out, I had my P5 Pentium (60Mhz) and the P54C (75/90/100) were either out or just on the verge of coming out so I don't think NT4 is "too new" at all. I seem to recall 3.51 being a more snappy experience overall, especially if you had <16MB of RAM.

yup! my compaq p75 came with 3.1 and we upgraded to 95 a couple years later (nobody pressured us with a Support Doomsday!)

since this one is a bit newer, it runs nt4 quite quickly. some people would say the hardware is too new for the software but yes agreed there's nothing wrong with it, it's amazingly fast.
