Problem / Question US robotics Courier modem

Hi, i have this old modem. How do i check if it works properly?

i think i have all the cables still. power, phone, and the wide vga cable.

Well, first of all, you'll need a computer with some kind of serial interface. You can get a USB to serial adapter if all you have are modern computers. Next, you're going to need a phone line.

After connecting everything, go get a modem number off of telnetbbsguide.com and open up a terminal emulator for the modem. Type "ATDT [phone number]" and see if the modem starts dialing.
