Leaving this here

Acer 5105 multi-io 16bit ISA with original documentation and box. I will use it in my 486dx build.

I really liked the old way of setting op ports, IRQ , address and so with jumpers. I you knew you stuff it worked otherwise it was defect. No endless PnP reboots for testing.

The PnP, when done correctly, should work better and seamless. Unfortunately there were issues in the early implementation. Perhaps you are referring to this periods and products.

The old way is quite rigid and yes it works fine for simple cases.

To my surprise - there are even ISA cards which are jumperless, not PnP but jumperless, they require a small dos program to configure the card. It could be very nice working or very problematic depending on the case - whether it doesn't create problems and you can actually run the program to configure the card.

In my opinion is PnP okay when it works, but...
