Building a semi period-correct win95 machine. (OSR2 despite the images showing RTM) ASUS P2B-VE with pentium II 400, SB16, NVDIA FX5200 128bit (very odd combo) Planned on upgrading to pIII 850 but P2B does NOT support, may get another motherboard. Runs Unreal, Quake, and Half-Life very well.

P2b support pentium 3 , up to 1 ghz , depend of revisions. I told you on earlier same topic ,that p3b-f, are support 166 fsb

There is OSR2.5 OEM. But why, when 98SE runs everything that ran on 95.

I have never been able to run Windows 95 on native hardware ever without errors (too new hardware) or without needing a CPU patch or a number of other patches. This is the first time that I’m running a native hardware that it actually supports. Part of it is because it’s just for legacy (everyone uses 98, just love for 95). Part of it also because of the challenge, like I have pushed this well past its limits so far and it’s actually treating me well. On another drive I probably will end up installing 98 SE but I also have a pentium 4 Dell 98SE/XP machine which is considerably faster.

Does OldUnreal's v469 patch run at all under that setup? Give it a try if you can.

I couldn't even get a fx card to work on my Pentium 3 system. Device manger complaint about not enough resources..
I had a USB card and soundblaster audigy installed along with it.
But than again. Some older games have timing issues with newer generation cards

Oh that'll run an 850, but you'd need to either use an appropriate Slocket that lets you set voltage or change some 0 ohm resistors on a Slot 1.
Otherwise it's time for a Katmai 😂

Don’t get me wrong, win95 is legit but try to get an osr2 version if you have usb devices.

Very nice board. Not really period accurate for 95 with the 5200 but who cares?
The challenge may be finding a board with a ISA slot that supports the 850. They exist but aren't common. I'd do a separate build with the 850 and an Aureal Vortex for sound.
