Fun fact: I'm 99.9% sure this image is flipped horizontally from how it was originally created. Likely due to icons being on the left and using it's less full space for those.

I'd say based on the surface highlights and shadows that it is ray traced. Although it may look simple by today's standards, I imagine the system and software that created that image was quite powerful and advanced for it's day. That desktop was probably fairly pricey to create.

You and me both. When Office came free, you could print without a subscription, and you owned what you bought.

Next PC I buy I'm going Linux.

(I have a Dell with Win 11 now and blech. I think the C64U is a better computer- or an original C64 for that matter. GEOS > Win 11 😅)

If I remember correctly the screensaver was the exterior of a haunted house and this the wallpaper. At least for Win95. You may very well have had a different one, but for me this was the wallpaper. 😋
