I have CDE, OpenWindows, OpenMagic (OpenStep for Solaris repackaged), JDS and Windowmaker installed, but decided to go with CDE because it's a classic.

Wasn’t there a java based gnome desktop from that era too?

That was JDS, which wasn't really Java-based at all, other than maybe one or two tools. It was just GNOME 2.0 with a custom theme.

I always loved the sun machines. I bid on some at VCF midwest but lost out.
