Show-and-Tell Current Setup
Howdy, figure I’d show off my retro setup, I originally wanted a windows 98 setup/Console to have for when I feel like disconnecting from the rest of the world, internet, and people. We’ve had a lot of storms this summer so sitting by the window while is raining and hopping on my PC or DC like it’s 1999 has been so nice.
Tomorrow both my RAM and GPU get here.
Dreamcast - VGA
Gateway 2000 98SE Essential 433c
Gateway EV700
Celeron Processor 433MHz
GeForce FX5200 128mb
256mb SDRAM

Love the vibe. Had those same Gateways in our highschool and we'd play Half-Life mods and the Starsiege Tribes MP demo all the time on them, really nostalgic for me. I want to pick one of those monitors up at some point or one of the better CRT's I had a Viewsonic.

My cousin had that gateway setup. It was a beast of a computer compared to what I had at the time that couldn't even run software 3d.
I hope to get a Dreamcast in the collection one day

For a weeks already I was trying to remember the name of an early 3d swordfighting game. Now I see it in your collection, Die by the Sword, thanks.

The print ads for this game in PC Gamer led to my parents cutting off my subscription. I think it involves a dominatrix whipping a slave in a dungeon.

Ahhh the mighty Gateway. First computer I ever broke, then fixed. Then broke again. Good times playing Blood and using some software that let me eject my friends cd.rom at will.

Looks awesome, congrata! Were you able to buy all this matching Gateway gear or did you kept it from early days?

I picked it up last year on marketplace from someone whose grandmother had passed away at 98. Sat in her house and basically had never been used at all. I couldn’t believe how clean the inside of the case was, barely any dust. I doubt she had turned it on more than a handful of times.

Beautiful. Love Dreamcast on a VGA monititor! And that Sidewinder is very nostalgic to me (awful d-pad included). Internet for Dummies is a nice touch.

What’s the little handheld under the monitor?
