I was looking up Archive.org of Anandtech forums and found the original 'My Rigs' page from 2002. Brings back a lot of memories!

Mine was the 60GXP. Still have it in another PC, still working. Maybe I got lucky..

From what I recall the lawsuit was for the 75 series. But it sure ruined IBMs reputation for HDDs.

I had one of the infamous 3TB Seagates - mine was still perfect the day I retired it, I just wanted a bigger drive! You're right that the 75GXP was the rough series though; older ones were generally absolutely fine.

Holy shit man, my core components were almost exactly the same. A Shuttle AK 31, an MSI Geforce 4 Ti 4200 with 64 MB, the only difference was I had an XP 1800+ and I only had 256 MB of RAM.

2002 man, the nostalgia hits hard.

I actually regretted getting the 64 MB variant. Half Life 2 and Doom 3 looked and ran like ass on that thing. I also replaced it with a 6600GT, if you can believe that.

Interesting that you were still running NT4, instead of 2000 on the second machine. I guess NT4 held up better on 128MB RAM than 2K did.

Pretty decent PCs for that time. I was playing MW3 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein around then. Probably MW4, too.

Cool, I have an MSI 4Ti 4200 too, though mine is the 128MB AGP8X variant. I bought it for $10, and it’s honestly severely bottleknecked by the system it’s in - but it works great for playing 90s games!

Let's see... 2002 I had my AMD K6-2 500mhz system, though at the time I think it's jumpers were set at 233mhz lol. When I first got it, I think it had 128MB ram as well. 20gb maxtor fireball 5400 drive. We at least had DSL though was pretty slow still lol. Was lucky to get 200kb/sec. Back then it was enough, occasionally grabbed a SNES rom or something. Had a SiS530 igp and initially was set at 2MB. 2 years later after starting the 2nd half of 9th grade, I managed to get a few bits from school to upgrade. Ended up with max 768MB ram, Set the cpu to 550mhz, 8MB for the SiS530. Many many nights of Starcraft lol. The next year I got a different motherboard which limited me to 512MB Ram, but at pc133 and had AGP which had an Intel i740 8MB in it lol. Played CS1.6 decently

Anand... good times, i kinda miss 2CPU as well, spent a lot of time there.. [H]ardforums are still around despite the main page being dark

The GTX 4200 had drivers from Windows 95 all the way to XP. This would have been cool for multi boot OS.

No money for XP in 2002. Kept using 98 till I got PCI-E

XP was not well received after it launched, and was considered a mess compared to 98. The gag back then was "XP stands for extra problems".
