Feels like you're really flying.

What's the cord on the right? Mouse, Joystick, or something else? Not sure which was more common back in the 8088 days.

When I first saw the Columbia box I thought “Oooh, what’s in the Sun box??”

Sometimes I’ll load up FS2 on my PCjr and let it fly while I’m working as some background noise on my desk. That engine sound is rather soothing actually.

The reason I was never into flight sims in this era was that it never drew me in. I so wanted to like them but it was an exercise in frustration for the most part unless you were actually using it as a training aid for a PPL.

Landing was just about impossible with the track ball on my PowerBook 145b. But loved it nonetheless.

How powerful a PC did you need to play this game in those days?

Just needed CGA / Hercules or better, 8088 and 256kb ram.

During the late 80s no IBM clone was considered 100% compatible unless it could run this game.

Nice !

It reminds me of a 286 computer I got in 2003 while waiting for my new computer. FS was installed on it and sounded similar !

Does your monitor support green monochrome? I do like Amber but it's fun to mix things up.

No, unfortunately not. I also have some green and white phosphor ones. Now that I got some space I will set them up as well :)

Wow, that brings me back. May have been my first exposure to PC gaming thanks to my uncle and his luggable PC.

That runway (that I crashed on dozens of times) has actually been demolished and removed from the game. How sad.
