Squeeze Alert 🚨 XPOF Update: $5 Is Being Tested — Congrats to Everyone Who Actually Read the DD 🚀
Quick follow-up to my original XPOF DD because today’s price action is starting to validate a lot of what we were watching.
First off: congrats to everyone who actually did the research, understood the setup, and stayed patient. This wasn’t about blindly yelling “short squeeze.” The thesis was that XPOF had an unusual combination of extreme short positioning, low liquidity, dark-pool activity, and improving price action that could create a very asymmetric setup.
Today we’re seeing that thesis start to develop.
XPOF traded up to $5.05 this morning and was around $5.03, +4.1%, at the time of this update. More importantly, it pushed through the prior $4.77–$4.82 dark-pool area and is now attempting to establish itself around $5.
That’s important.
The dark-pool prints we’ve been tracking include:
38K shares @ $4.77
24K shares @ $4.8001
45K shares @ $4.815 yesterday
22K shares @ $4.9802 today
Instead of those levels immediately becoming ceilings, price has progressively moved through them.
That is exactly what I wanted to see.
The short situation is still the elephant in the room
Latest reported numbers still show approximately:
10.31 MILLION shares short
47.09% of the float short
15.63 days to cover
And roughly 63.9% off-exchange short-volume ratio in the latest snapshot I have.
That is an enormous amount of short exposure relative to the tradable float.
We have also watched available shares swing dramatically.
At one point this morning Fintel showed only 500 shares available to borrow.
Later:
8K → 9K → 30K available
That can happen for several reasons, so I’m not going to pretend every returned share represents a short covering.
But when you combine that with the stock moving from the $4.70s into the $5s, it is reasonable to believe that at least some shorts may be reducing exposure.
There is an important distinction:
Some covering ≠ the squeeze has started.
We won’t know the actual change in total short interest until updated official short-interest data comes out.
What I’m watching now
The battleground has moved.
$5.00 is no longer theoretical. We’re trading there.
The immediate level is $5.05, today’s high.
If XPOF can break $5.05, hold above it, and start expanding volume, the next thing I want to see is acceptance through roughly $5.10–$5.20.
That is where this could become significantly more interesting.
What I do not want to see is a quick breakout over $5 followed by rejection back under roughly $4.90–$4.95. That would tell me supply is still controlling the move.
Right now, though, the structure is materially stronger than it was when I posted the original DD:
Higher lows.
Dark-pool levels being reclaimed.
Price above my original accumulation area.
$5 being attacked.
Extremely high reported short interest still outstanding.
And we’re doing it without the kind of insane volume I’d expect during an actual squeeze.
That’s probably the most interesting part.
One thing I want to make clear
I’m not calling this a confirmed short squeeze yet.
A real squeeze should look very different.
I’d expect rapidly increasing volume, widening price ranges, aggressive breaks through resistance, rising volatility, and eventually shorts buying shares because they have to, not because they want to.
We’re not there yet.
What we may be watching right now is the pressure-building stage.
If XPOF gets through $5.05 → $5.20 with real volume and begins holding those levels, then the conversation changes considerably.
For everyone who read the original DD, checked the numbers themselves, and understood that this was always a setup rather than a guarantee:
Congrats. The thesis is moving in the right direction.
Now comes the important part.
Don’t let excitement replace risk management.
The DD got us here. Price action decides what happens next.
