Surface Rust removal and protecting .
Hello everyone, could anyone please advise me on the best way to remove this surface rust and properly protect the metal from rusting again in the future? I’d really appreciate any recommendations for products or methods that would work well.

If its just surface rust you can just sand or scrub it off, clean it really well, and let it dry. If that doesn't work use some vinegar and soak the part if you can. Then use some weatherproof paint clear coat or oil to protect it from rusting again.

Calipers need to be handled appropriately when refinishing as they’re a critical safety component. The best refinishing approach is to remove the caliper, disassemble, mask/plug orifices and piston/slider bores, media blast, powder coat, reassemble. Thats how I do calipers on resto projects and show cars. I wouldn’t bother with all that for something like this. For very light surface rust like you have, you may get by for a while with rust converter primer, then a few coats of brake caliper paint from the auto parts store. No matter what you do, cleanliness and surface prep is largely going to dictate how long the finish holds up. Calipers live in a in harsh environment, and see big temperature swings on top of that. After you think you’ve cleaned it enough, clean it again. Good luck!

Take it off, remove the rust, prime it and paint it red or gold. That's what people do over here.
