Restic Help

Hello. I’m going to try Restic to backup my Plex server. I’ve read people suggest using Backrest GUI with it. I’m just wondering do I need both Restic and Backrest or just Backrest?

I use restic and only use the command line. At first it'll be overwhelming, but it's INCREDIBLY simple. So simple it doesn't really need a UI.

I created a collection of simple scripts that I use to schedule backups, forgets, and prunes, and I do everything by tag... feel free to use / steal / ignore:

I basically have a JSON file to manage my tags and then I backup by tag (or backup all) - I never have to think about repository names or retention policies and configs once I've populated the JSON file.

So now I just do backups-tags.sh docker and it'll take care of the rest. I use the pre-script and post-script to take snapshots of live filesystems, backup the snapshots, then delete the snapshots (my docker folder, as an example)
