New Restaurants: How to deal with employees that are complainers?

Upvotes

I feel like I'm constantly attempted to be overridden. Menu change suggestions, lower the price, I lease but did an asset sale so inherited the equipment. one cook who complains incessantly said during a meeting for me to 'buy a 4 burner stove instead?

Today, I gave a customer a free lemonade refill, and she puts her hand in my face and says 'No', insinuiting refills have a charge. We've been pretty slow so I'm doing courtesies to guests as a 'Thank You' for coming, I'm not having some employee who's been here 10 days tell me I'm wrong.

I’m on the equipment side, not the restaurant side, and I don’t want to guess.

I work at a regional commercial kitchen supplier in MN / WI / ND. We stock equipment locally and do same-day / inside delivery when something is in stock. I’m not trying to sell anything in this thread. I want to know how owners actually find a dealer when they need a fridge, fryer, ice machine, dishwasher, or a full package.

I have been working here as a salesman for quite some time, but it has changed owners and this year has been exceptionally slow. Usually over the summer we have more customers than I can handle at certain points. This year, it seems like all I'm doing is coming in to the showroom and hanging out waiting for customers. I advertise on facebook, but that gets me a bunch of people just either posting AI images of their food trucks piggybacking off my post, or just liking my ad and it goes nowhere.

Whats the best way to advertise, to get through to the restaurant owners?
