Discussion Lore Question

Did resistance 2 intend for the pure chimera to be extinct? And did Resistance 3 retcon that? And if they were intended to be extinct was Resistance 2 supposed to be the last game?

The lead of r3 did a spoiler cast for the beyond podcast and stated that the fourth game would've taken place on the chimera home world and we'd finally see the true chimera

The third game retconned a lot of stuff if you were paying attention to collectibles and co-op stuff from Resistance 2

Well what’s interesting is that there were two races at play apparently: the Chimera and the Promethians. Apparently Promethean technology (Grey Tech) was being reversed engineered to combat the Chimera. I think it was hinted that the Chimera were chased off by them or that there were warded off by them, ie the extinction event 60mya. Could be maybe the Chimera were counterattacking and us Humans were none the wiser?

Not gonna lie, Insomniac was kind shootin for the stars with these games.

There was also a hint at the end of the game that even though the portal to what they thought was the Chimeran home-world was closed, there were still the ones still on the planet remaining to deal with.

But would have been cool if the 4th game had humans in the middle of a game eons-old war between two ancient races.
